Paul Samson, leader of Samson, died of cancer August 9th

Samson leader Paul Samson lost his fight to cancer in the afternoon of Friday, August 9th at his Norfolk, England home. He had recently posted online that he was hoping that the new Samson album will be completed later this year, as it was now at the mixing stage. Paul was 49.

Although overlooked during the highly-praised NWOBHM movement, Samson were undoubtably known for launching the career of their first singer, Bruce Bruce - Bruce Dickinson. In 1979, Samson released their debut, Survivors and followed it with Head On (1980) and Shock Tactics (1981). Shortly after, Bruce was snapped up by Iron Maiden and he was replaced by Nicky Moore.
