Michael Schenker Group Cancel Some Tour Dates

According to the web site of the Granada Theatre in Dallas, Texas, tonight's (July 1) MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP concert at the venue has been cancelled. However, despite rumors to the contrary, the band's current U.S. tour has not been called off and will continue as planned.

MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP is performing timeless classics from all stages of Michael's illustrious career, including SCORPIONS, UFO and MSG, to commemorate his "Tales of Rock 'n' Roll", which is out now. Support on all dates comes from San Francisco-based guitar virtuoso Doug Doppler, signed to Steve Vai's Favored Nations label.

MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP's current touring lineup is as follows:

Michael Schenker (guitar)
Wayne Findlay (guitar, keyboards)
Jari Tiura (vocals)
Bodo Schopf (drums)
Frank Rummler (bass)

MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP released "Tales of Rock 'n' Roll", a special CD to celebrate the band's 25-year anniversary, on August 1, 2006 via Locomotive Records. The CD contains Michael Schenker's signature riffage on new cuts featuring an all-star assembly of singers who have recorded with Schenker over the past quarter-century: Graham Bonnet, Gary Barden, Robin McAuley, Kelly Keeling, Leif Sundin, Chris Logan and Michael's most recent vocalist, Jari Tiura. UFO's Pete Way chips in with bass for this special occasion and RACER X vocalist Jeff Martin is behind the kit.

The Houston show on 6/30/07 was also cancelled the day of the show. But Micheal Schenker showed up at the club at about 10 PM and signed autographs. No explanation was given as to why he did not play.

The Chicago Show on 07/09/07 at HOB was also cancelled after 4:00 P.M. the day of the show. The explanation that was given was that Schenker did not return any of their calls. They claimed he had fired his management.

Even though website, phone, everything said the show was on. Not even one live person there to turn us away. f*** it. Like all Schenker fans at some point, I've had it.

THIS IS IT FOR ME FOR ME. So Mr. Schenker just can't seem to hold ANYTHING together. It's a wonder he could even pull together a band that would agree to tour with him knowing full well he would revert back to his old ways and eventually pull the plug on the remaining dates. M one and only experience with Mike was back in 1984 when he was playing the Agora ballroom in West Hartford, CT when his show didn't start untile 2 hours later than scheduled and HE SUPPOSEDLY cut his finger backstage. To this day I still wonder if that was actually the truth. This guy has got more excuses for events that have taken place in his life that a book of excuses. His rant on the "himself" website has now taken on a new meaning and his "Look what has happened to me" dialog appears to be justified. Everyone has a friend who just can't seem to hold down a job or even be responsible to oneself. What I personally would like to have happen right now is to have someone MAKE A LIAR OUT OF ME. I NOW NEED someone to explain WHY he has cancelled yet another leg of his FRUITLESS tour. Someone PLEASE step forward out of the darkness and into the light and shed some natural light on poor Mr. Michael Schenker. Thank God the professionals in Iron Maiden have put out what appears to be the best disc of the decade in .."A Matter of Life & Death" to restore credibility to the Metal Masters Industry. Mike could shure use a lesson from Bruce and the guys of Maiden. I've said enough and now I'd really like to hear from someone who dares to represent his pathetic & sorry a_ss. With RESPECT to all who DESERVE it. Thank you

Wow.
I just checked the Jaxx website (Springfield, Va.), and Michael (big surprise) has canceled his 7/21/07 show. I for one, absolutely love his music and influence on my playing WAYYYYYY too much to say anything negative. Although this is twice he cancelled on me. (Notice how I take that personally, as we all do...), I did see him on his last "Actual" tour at Jaxx. He played two nights, and I was there for both: the first night taking it all in towards the back, and the second night getting there early, and parking my a$$ next to the stage on the left side. I am eternally grateful for the experience.
Michael, your true fans love you no matter what you are going through. Are we disappointed? Yes.
I for one, will carry the Michael Schenker flag till the day I die.
Rock on...

I did get to see Mike Schenker at The Avalon in Santa Clara, CA on June 23. He also played Sacramento the next day, and then Las Vegas, NV. But he did cancel the rest of the tour after that. At the Sacramento show, supposedly the PA went out, and instead of storming off the stage, Schenker and the band apparently actually had fun joking around and enjoying themselves. As far as the rest - from what I was told, Schenker's "agency" had "lost the tour money." Hmmm... it's always something with him, isn't it. And for those people who - for any band or artist - say the same comments of "I love him no matter what happens in his life," that is so detrimental to the art. A real artist holds true, and gives of themselves to the fans, not excuses. This is the third tour that has been cancelled. I'm surprised that he showed up to the U.S.A. at all, to be honest. And... one more comment to those who will follow an act and accept them for any of their flaws - it's people like you that have ended up killing performers who were unbalanced. When your friend reaches out for help, you don't just say "Oh I love you however you are." No, you offer help, or kick them in the behind to get them better. Don't accept poor behavior, or you disrespect yourself as well. The simple fact is - it will always be one excuse or another, regardless of what happens.

Screwed over twice in 10 months had tickets for a club in Chicago in Sept 06 -cancelled. I read a good interview with former bass player Rev Jones like he said- everything in this guys life is always someone elses fault. If it isnt his ex wife its the "wicked people" ??? ( the latest post on his website.) Get your a$$ out of the bottle What a waste of talent.
