Morello and de la Rocha To Perform Before Rage Against The Machine Reunion

Before Rage Against the Machine's high-profile Cochella reunion show, Tom Morello and and Zack de la Rocha will be performing for free in Chicago for the 2007 Coalition of Immokalee Workers Truth Tour. The April 14th rally comes right after the announcement that McDonalds will meet all of the demands made by the CIW, a community-based farmworker organization whose members are largely Latino, Haitian, and Mayan Indian immigrants working in low-wage jobs throughout the state of Florida.

Morello and de la Rocha will be a part of a Parade and Carnaval that will make its way through downtown Chicago and return to Federal Plaza for a celebratory rally featuring CIW members, allies, and a dynamic lineup of other well-known artists, musicians and speakers. The Parade and Carnaval will be composed of blocks, contingents, music groups, and theater organized by the CIW and allies.

Rage isn't even officially back together and their activism is in full force. As good a cause as any. I shutter to think how cutting the lyrics on a new RATM disk would be at this point.

This band has never taken political sides, being even more left than most democrats...but what the current leadership and has done, (not done) etc should be worth a double album.

Now Playing: Arch Enemy - "Ravenous"

What about all the white workers who are exploited, out sourced, etc... I tire of the ethnocentric political scene that has infected so called metal. These guys are racist.

razor, why shouldn't they worry about their own people first? and how does that make them racist? they didn't exactly discriminate a certain race did they? they didn't exactly go "whites!? screw them! they can go rot under my boot for all i care!". seriously, that's a rather stupid comment.

Razor has "never seen a brown man till his grand dady bought one".......
I live here in Chicago and I attended the rally/Carnival that was held for the CIW (coalition of immokalee workers)
it was relocated to the House of Blues but still free. Zack and Tom put on an amazing acoustic performance and played some RATM songs. This show was definitely a must see for those devoted RATM fans the 14th of april will go down in the history of RATM book.

Razor, to call them racist or even ethnocentric only makes you blind and ignorant. If they were racist they would never have Brad Wilk, Tim Commerford, as band members......

Why is it that people who have a clear, concise and conscious way of running ac ountry in favour of the many of the country (as opposed to the few rich elitists who sell arms and drugs and reality t-fvckin'-v and own multi-national corporations) somehow never end up being the guys running the country?

Morello for president? I'd love to see it.
