Trivium’s Matt Heafy talks about their forthcoming tour with Korn
Says Heafy: "Over the past three years TRIVIUM has had the pleasure and honor of touring, supporting, as well as headlining many diverse tours and festivals along with so many different bands, so being invited by KORN to play this year's Family Values 2007 tour and get out in front of a diverse crowd and play is going to rock.
"This tour is a chance for us to finally be able to play for TRIVIUM fans that may have never had the ability to see us before as well as other people who may not normally get to go to metal shows.
"What a great opportunity for us to play with one of the bands some of us grew up with — KORN. We had the honor of supporting KORN last June at the Download Festival in the U.K.
"KORN was one of the first bands I was into as a kid. I bought the first family values DVD back in the day (I know I wasn't the only one!). For a lot of the younger fans out there these big summer tours open doors to different music genres. At the end of the day, if we can help get some new kids into metal then that is awesome.
"So anyways... it's going to be a fucking amazing tour for the fans and we will do our best to do what we do best — which is rock out live and we hope to make some new friends along the way.
"So to wrap it all up, I hope all our fans come out the Family Values tour to these shows and support TRIVIUM — do that and we will deliver a balls-out-metal-as-fuck set to tear the fucker up (we're gonna mix it up and play songs we've never played before.)
"You guys fucking rock. This tour is gonna be a big outdoor summer party — come out and rock out."

I still stand by Trivium as the best gateway band (deathbringsers novel term) this generation has got.
I'm grateful that I was 6-12 when Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Pantera and Tool came along but none of the metal-core set have any of the signature qualities that made those bands I listed above so great.
It's fitting that Trivium tour with Korn, which I consider to be another gateway band (many of my friends
The Crusade was certainly more pop inflected than their debut. The lyrics really hurt that record too....
this guy says we might get some kids into metal? ummmm I think most people that listen to KORN like metal and have a metal music taste. I think he just realy doesnt care for KORN wich is ok, but I think what he is trying to get at is KORN isent METAL what soo ever and neither are their fans Iam in a way offended by this.
Hey rulin, I thought rk sounded alot like you (the initials should have been a dead give away)...I remember that truce, quite honorable stuff from where I stand.
If I were still a young one and still getting into heavy rock and metal this would be a worthwhile show....
I -never- thought I'd say this but Ozzfest is really shaping up this year.
Ol' (semi) reliable Ozzy with LOG, Behemoth, Daath and Nile for $0.00...If your careful with how you spend your $ once in the festival it should be worth every penny and then some....
I feel like an Ozzfest whore but this is a genuinely good show...Lordi sucks though....

now I'm actually looking forward to trivium playing with korn, I hate the new album, sounds exactly like metallica but I saw them with lamb of god this weekend, I expected them to suck ass, I was suprised, they were REALLY good live. "LIVE" that is, cd-wise not a good band. which to me is a good compromise
what? slipknot and korn fans are the worst? in what way? I love METAL music and I do think KORN is metal, or use to be, I still think they are.u are right about one thing some KORN fans dont like listen to metal, some! but SLIPKNOT and KORN have the most loyal fans!

Yea, alot of korn fans are just into them cause they are "big" at the time and then stop when someone else "big" comes along. I myself have been a long time listener of Korn since their old stuff back in the 90s but most korn fans dont stick with them. But slayer fans are fans for life, you dont like slayer and then dislike them later. Not to mention the fact that alot of slayer fans boo other bands off the stage at slayers shows, which is very rude and i wouldnt do something like that, but that shows their brutal loyalty.
ya but KORN has gone through alot with their sound changing over ther years and doing differnt things with their music and to still sell out every show and still have good selling records even though the fan may not like the new album shows loyalty. slayer and tool have good following as well but their loyalty has not been put to the test like korn fans have.
I dont think so I have been a fan since they have started I know other people that have done the same dont talk about things u dont know about, every time I go see a KORN show their are people blasting korn's self tittled and wearing the KORN self titled shirts wich I wear too every time I go, yes some have left but most are still their!
post 35 im one of those people im still stainding by, bassmaster! slayer has argueably the most loyal fanbase possibly over any band, i dont see any korn fans carving korn's logo into there arms with knives or murdering people in the name of some of korns lyrics
Iam not saying KORN has the BEST fan base Iam just saying they a have a loyal one. I dident know slayer fans were killing people in the name of slayer thats not loyalty its stupidity if I saw that well I would say thats just plain retarded! but I have seen people carve KORN into themselves and other fans of other bands like marilyn manson so throw that one out
