Children of Bodom's Next Album To Be Pop Covers Album

In a recent interview with Children of Bodom, frontman Alexi Laiho has revealed that the band's forthcoming album will be a covers album. Laiho comments:

"Well, we had already done covers of the Ramones and Andrew W.K. and even Britney Spears. So we're like, 'Fuck, we need something else that would shock the metal world because people take metal so fucking seriously.' So we decided on recording an album dedicated to the worst songs in history: Nelly Furtado, Gwen Stefani and shit. On one hand, there is a parody factor in making such covers, but on the other hand it's like 'see, even the shittiest pop single can have some redeeming value if played well.'"

Songs expected to be on the album include:

Justin Timberlake - Sexyback
James Blunt - You're Beautiful
Nelly Furtado - Maneater
Kevin Federline - Popozão
Paris Hilton - Stars are Blind
Gwen Stefani - Hollaback Girl

wow. this is like having a bad dream. i can understand their whole sense of humor thing, and maybe it would be cool as a bonus track, but this is insane! these guys have just written their own death wish. that is if this is not an april fools joke. please tell me, WHY i would want to hear this? i am a huge metal fan all the way from the beginning, and I love C.O.B., but why the f*** would I want to hear them cover songs I hate? what a f***ing waste of time! they could use all the time they spend on recording that garbage to record an album of new sh**. this is such a joke, and if this is true then I just lost all my respect for this band. having a sense of humor is one thing, like type o negative, but this is just stupid.
