"It's been a while since we've dropped you guys a line, so here's what's new in the Avenged Sevenfold camp. Writing for our record has been going amazing. We've got a bunch of great songs for you guys to hear and we can't wait to get into the studio and lay it down. The DVD is also making its way through the final stages and soon into your arms. It's gonna be a great year for Avenged Sevenfold and its fans!"

Well, I've been playing guitar since I was six and I've been in numerous bands of varying styles, and I still don't know what all the fuss is about. There are surely bands out there that are more deserving of criticism, (Sevendust, 36 Crazyfists, NIN, to name a few) and less deserving of praise. I think it all boils down to the names and the makeup, actually. Metal's become quite shallow as of late, and it seems pretty simple to categorize a band just solely based on their theatrics (KISS, GWAR, Lordi, Coal Chamber, Alice Cooper, Dimmu Borgir, Rammstein) rather than by their talent. It's actually quite sad that a band like A7X can't be seen as a milestone. Maybe it's becasue I heard them before I saw them. Or maybe it's because I'm not a fascist. Just a thought. Write a better solo than the one from "Sidewinder" or a better song intro than "Strength of the World" and then we'll talk. If anyone out there thinks any A7X solo is simple is obviously not a guitar player and is just hating for the sake of hating. But that's okay. I do that, too. I used to feel untalented compared to other bands, but it's not a matter of personal skill, it's that theyu're doing it, and doing it well, and they're getting rich from it, so I understand why people are mad at A7X, but calling them untalented is ridiculous, at best. Try listening to them instead of taking other people's words for it.

Wow, I really hate this band. They made Ozzfest '06 a lot lamer. They tried to cover "Walk", but everyone just booed them. They think they're a metal band, but they;re really not. As far as being talented, Zacky FU**ING Vengeance does not compare to some great METAL musicians like: Zakk Wylde, Dimebag, Glenn Tipton, Scott Ian, Tony Iommi, John Petrucci

I for one think they are skilled musicians (see any A7X thread I've posted on going back 3.5 years) but their singer is like a cheese grater raping my inner ear. They had their shot with me and M Shadows words and voice dismembered the rest of the bands assets.
Part of the reason they get so much hate rather than say (as Crawford mentioned:Sevendust, 36CF NIN etc) is because this band is peaking...
Thats when bands like A7X get the most emotional feedback...both positive and negative.
Whereas NIN are degenerating, 36 Crazyfists are going nowhere and Sevendust saw their best(read:popular) days from 1999-2002.

All I have been doing is working...ALOT..and I stripped my LP and doing some mods and refinishing it with a different stain..!! It should be pretty cool when Im done... ...instead of the usual Gibson look of 2V and 2T knobs, Im adding a coil tap and a kill switch and leaving only the 2V knobs.. I dont ever use the tone knobs..and a coil tap is a nice addition..!!

On the one hand in Europe you've got bands that paved the way like Sabbath, Priest, Maiden, Scorpions, Purple, Sex Pistols and then in America you've got the arena rock bands like Guns 'N Roses, Aerosmith etc AND the thrash metal scene (although thrash metal arguably stems from British bands like Motorhead and Venom). Plus the German thrash metal scene which included Kreator and Destruction. Too tough to call
