The Red Chord is looking for a new guitar player as Jonny Fay is leaving the band to focus on work at his recording studio.

The band will be auditioning guitar players during February and March. Tablature files have been prepared for the song, "Black Santa." Those interested should make a video or audio recording of themselves playing the song. According to the group:

"We are looking for someone diverse in their abilities as a guitar player who is willing to be on the road 8-10 months out of the year. Touring experience is a must. Get in touch with us here theredchord@hotmail.com or through our myspace.

Jonny Fay will be contributing to the writing of our next record and recording it with us. We are going to miss having him in the band and we wish him all the best.

In regards to his departure, Fay had this to say: "This was not an easy decision to make. I have loved every second of my time in this band, and I will miss it dearly. However, as long as I have been involved in music my true passion has been recording, and I feel that the time has come for me to give it my undivided attention. I have opened a recording studio in Milford, NH, and will be devoting my time to recording and producing bands and musicians, locally and nationally. This has been an incredible experience, and I will continue to support The Red Chord and help them in any way that I can in the future.

“I want to thank all of the friends I have made along the way, and all the fans that have given us support during my time with the band. Most of all, I want to thank Greg, Mike, Guy and Brad for being great friends and helping make the past year and a half truly amazing. Thanks once more to everyone - no one will be forgotten."

Jonny Fay recently opened Backyard Studios in Milford, NH. To contact him and/or get more information about the studio, you may e-mail him at backyard.studios@hotmail.com or go to myspace.com/backyardstudiosnh.

are you kidding???? i believe the post above me said that the red chord blows. you must be a big a7x fan or something. and lots of people including myself would be dissapointed including myself if they disbanded. i bet that they were just too musically talented for your liking considering you saw them open for gwar (who is a simplistic thrash band that wears stupid a$$ costumes to hide their musical shortcomings). they red chord are one of the best and most talented bands ever to come out of the great state of massachusetts and they are gonna be around for a while so get used to it....and i cant wait to hear some new material from them.

I am not an a7x fan either. His voice is annoying.I am an old school metal fan who thinks that red chord are a bunch of noise. You metal mayhem are probably not old enough to appreciate real metal.I do like some of the new bands today but the red chord are terrible. And as far as the Gwar slam, you are a moron.Gwar is not my favorite band in the world but they have been around for a long time and they put on a really kick a$$ show. The red chord are what I consider dork metal and as far as being one of the most talented bands coming out of massachussetts, give me a break they can barely play their instruments.Shadows Fall put them to shame as far as musical talent. This is a great website as far as metal news but I say that the majority of people who post comments don't know crap about metal.I grew up liking the bands who can actually play but the bands of today do nothing for me.
