"some music was meant to stay underground..."

Mindless Self Indulgence Says 'No' To iTunes

Digital music giant iTunes has asked shock-rockers Mindless Self Indulgence to change the genre that they are filed under. MSI is currently filed with their distributor as 'Religious/Inspirational', apparently because of their 'devout' fan-base and 'cult-like' following (in the last year alone the band has shipped around 180,000 CD's).

This seems to have upset a few conservative Christian organizations, who have lodged complaints with iTunes to have the bands music removed from that category. Some Christians have even bought the offensive material apparently on faith, despite the fact that the material was clearly marked as being explicit. That MSI's album "You'll Rebel To Anything" sold quite well, reaching Number 27 on the iTunes Christian/Gospel charts, was the icing on the cake.

Jimmy Urine, vocalist for MSI, had this to say about the controversy: "It was iTunes, not us, that interpreted "religious" to mean Christian/Gospel. What is offensive to some people is obviously inspirational to others. To our fans this IS inspirational music. I have no intention of changing the genre listing of this album."

Find out what others are saying on their iTunes page at this location.

I can't stand this band but I happen to find this pretty funny too....Mindless Self Indulgence, does the name not tell the buyer all they need to know?.....

anyway, they go out of their way to be as offensive as humanly possible. I wish I could see the reactions of the ultra-conservative, tornado alley and Bible belt dwellers hearing that band...Total fear, confusion and anger all at once.

Yeah well the music world doesn't give two sh**s about Mr. Noogieburger since digital is taking over CD's. I myself, prefer to have the physical CD too but so many people don't like it so this is the way it's going to be. Deal with it.

Religious/Inspirational? What sort of genre is that? Are they implying non religious music isn't inspirational?! They should put Mayhem down as this, Satanic religion inspiring church burnings.

uh...deathbringer...what about Machine Man?

I mean, honestly, I can tolerate a Mr. Noogieburger as long as he isn't a complete jackoff, but how about the one spamming about how he's glad Dimebag got shot and [Insert all racial/homosexual slang references here]?

hey guys. I don't mind a few of MSI's songs, but I wouldn't really call myslf a 'fan'. But I am in no way partial to iTunes (or any iProducts, to be honest), so here's a thumbs-up to the band.

As for Machine Man, I've seen a few of his posts (and deleted them straight away) - I completely agree that such posts should not be tolerated. It may just be a matter of us not seeing his posts, or maybe some aren't so quick to delete posts, I dunno. But if the vote's needed, mine's all for deleting that guy from the records ASAP.

I have noticed Machine Men's bad taste in trolling or in general, but as long as it's not widespread spamming, I try not to go deleting stuff.

I actually bothered to spare Zero Tolerance's main identity's posts when cleaning up his spam, as they were usually on topic, but based on the attitude I probably should have just deleted them all like I do to most spammers.

That's all I have to say about spam in this thread.

Maybe its just my inner elitist that would ban Machine Man for saying that kinda sh!t...I mean, in that post alone Machine Man dissed Dime (JUST UTTER BLASPHEMY!), Vinnie Paul, our lord and savior Jimi Hendrix, even John Bonham of Zeppelin for chrissakes! So he basically can go on a spam rampage disrespecting key figures that pretty much MAKE this site (MetalUnderground wouldn't be here if it weren't for Metal mind you.)?

I mean if you're letting him spam on so blasphemously on Dime, what stops others from getting on other greats in Metal like Tommy Iomi, Bruce d***inson, or [Insert other Metal Gods here]? But most importantly, he's sh!tting on DIME of all people! If this was IslamUnderground and Machine Man was saying this sh!t about the prophet Muhammad, it wouldn't be tolerated...Know what I mean?
