Rage Against The Machine Reunion Update
Band Photo: Audioslave (?)
Hits Daily Double reports that the reunion of RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, who will appear at this summer's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, follows a winding road that included an aborted Zack de la Rocha solo project, and the three remaining members — Tom Morello, Brad Wilk and Tim Commerford — forming AUDIOSLAVE with Chris Cornell. The band will manage itself, with Dan Field handling the solo work of Morello, Wilk and Commerford and William Morris' Sara Newkirk overseeing de la Rocha. If the group goes on to record a new album, presumably it would be on Epic. If they did decide to tour together, it would be huge.
RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE's headlining performance at this year's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival was confirmed earlier in the week by press representatives for the festival. The political rap-rock act, which was one of the biggest acts of the '90s, played Coachella's main stage during the festival's first edition in 1999. The group broke up in 2000 after three studio albums, one collection of covers and one live set.

dude rage has played here several times i saw them open up for cypress hill back in the day and at lollapalooza and i did not go to this show but in 96 they did a show in indy with the wu tang clan. But this is not bad news even though honestly this band was created by a record label as well but man this band brings back some good memories of the nineties.
I always thought the band's demise was kind of a tragedy. In a world that is dying for inspired music...music that cuts at the powers that be...RATM was nowhere to be seen. There are politically inclined bands in the world...but none with the full-on aggression that RATM had. "March of Death" was a great solo track by Zack...but then nothing else came out. I think the music industry...and music fans as a whole need this band back...and I am hoping this will be a permanent thing rather than a one-off. Can't wait to see what happens.
Why is everyone talking about audioslave breaking up, its a f***ing one show reuinion, and hopefully nothing more. it'd be great to see them play again, but not at the cost of audioslave. And for all the hatred towards Cornell, he's got more dynamics than whiny a$$ de la rocha ever had, and is a much better fit with morello commerford and wilk.
Both of them had there place. Cornell has more of a vocal range, but Rocha had the political lyrics and the pure enthusiasm that Cornell doesn't have. Both bands are good, but I prefer RATM over Audioslave because of the heavier sound. Audioslave was more of an alternative band.
Audioslave are good at what they do, but nothing compared to RATM (or Soundgarden for that matter) in their hayday.
The entire dynamic of RATM was to give Zachs lyrics a musical foil. The lyrics and vocals were articulated anger at the establishment, here and abroad.
Rage was better because it was a heavier, more purpose oriented beast.
Audioslave is flimsy because Cornell is an actual "singer" and he covers more emotions and also contributes some of the guitar parts. In theory this is a good thing and at times it worked, but these among other factors are what lead to Audioslave becoming a weak sibling to RATM/Soundgarden.
Gimme RATM over Audioslave or solo Cornell any day.
I just cummed blood.
Thats f***ing brilliant news!! Friend of mine read it in Kerrang and told me.
Audiosave are ok for their purpose of being more of a fun band than Rage, but I prefer the seething gritty sound of Rage to Cornells "soaring" vocals. I'm not saying he's a bad vocalist, but I prefer De La Rocha any day.
It's gonna be the jst like what happened in the 80's. It's gonna be damn sweet. And for the record the band broke up initially because De La Rocha believed the the original purpose and motives of the band had been comprimised. He was p***ed about possibly being a sellout. If they do come back I wouldnt be surprised if they did their recording with a small record label as opposed to Epic. I bet the last f**kn thing De La Rocha wants to do is make some more money for them to get their cut on. But all in all, this has the potential of being the greatest reuniting of bands ever. KICK OUT THE JAMS!!!!! RATM!!!!
Rage got me through my teenage years while i was living in a small boring town, they gave me something to focus my anger at and inspired me to play music. I was heart broken when i heard they'd broken up. Audioslave weren't exactly bad but I just don't think Cornell knows how to ruffle the band's feathers and "angry them up" like De La Rocha did. Most of Audioslave's work sounds like they just went into the studio and had a jam. Don't get me wrong, it's a good jam, but it seems a little directionless. Audioslave are a better band than most bands today, but let's face it, they could do better if they refined songs a bit more before recording them. And Rage, they'll always be the best!
I have to admit I really, really tried to get into audioslave. I tried to like the band, but I have to admit it falls short. A lot of people love Chris Cornell, but I thought Soundgarden had a couple of good tunes, but wasn't that great. I would see them live just for the chance that they would play a couple RATM tunes. Saw them twice:Lollapalooza and w/ Wu-Tang and the concert gave me chills. Only other band that did that for me is the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Are you crazy???? RATM had only good music!!!! Zack De La Rocha is an untalented a$$hole!!!!! His lyrics are R U B B I S H!!!!! He can't even sing!!!!! Just screaming, screaming, screaming!!!! Chris Cornell is the best rock voice ever and his lyrics are top quality!!!! Because some of you aren't smart enough to realise what his lyrics are about and can't evaluate such great songs stop saying bullsh**!!!! A RATM reunion is the last thing we want right now!!!! Something like that would destroy the world of music!!!!!! So f*** RATM!!!!! Audioslave for ever!!!!!!!!
If audioslave is the best, why would RATM even want to reunite? I guess they feel somethhing is misssing too and Audioslave isn't filling the void. So what if Zack doesn't sing, its the guitar riffs and the beat which really set RATM apart. Some people just me like hard rock, Audioslave is not hard rock. That's why Chris Cornell is not very applealing to me as a frontman.
f*** you Audioslave...the person who's sn is audioslave not the band...zack de la rocha is GOD and shouldn't be compared to chris cornell. if u hate RATM so much what the f*** are u doing reading comments on RATM's reunion. ur nothin but a hater. get a f***ing life. oh and RATM songs have way more meaning and it's metal so it has to be loud and in ur face. if you dont like the screaming then you dont like metal
