Isn't this going to be the first year Vai isn't on the tour? Paul Gilbert is a welcome replacement!

Yeah, this is the first G3 tour without Vai, and that's a shame. But still, I'd be interested to see the three that are on the bill. Because G3 is a guaranteed good show. I bought the DVD of the Tokyo tour and it was absolutely phenominal. I was going to buy the 2003 DVD where they had Yngwie, but after borrowing it from a friend, I decided against it. Satriani and Vai were excellent, but Yngwie seemed to almost be a lag at the back of the parade. His solos incorporate a lot of sameness, and when you jam with Satriani and Vai, that will become obvious very quickly. Even so, G3 is f***ing great.

Not really the first G3 tour without Vai, G3 did europe with Satriani, Michael Schenker and Uli Jon Roth a few years ago. Am hoping this tour makes it's way North to Toronto while I'm there at the end of March or comes over to the UK at some point.
