Finnish metallers ...And Oceans new effort will be titled Cypher
Finnish bizzaro metallers ...And Oceans, featuring members of Black Dawn and Rotten Sound, have set Cypher as the title of their forthcoming full-length album.
Originally titled Insect Angels & Devil Worms, the band felt the shorter title in Cypher best suited their musical and lyrical message. The reason for the change? Only ...And Oceans can explain. "Its different meanings. 1.) a secret code; 2.) a person and thing which has no importance (that fits well with the decadentian lyrics); 3.) in Latin it means 'empty', which is nice, because the word empty is repeated in the lyrics."
Recorded at Abyss Studios with producer Tommy Tagtgren (Dominion Caligula), Cypher is already being touted as the perfect fusion of metal and industrial.
Here's what Tagtgren had to say about it: "This concept album will surely surprise with its raw, filth, crust, but modern sound that combines the very finest of industrial/electronic music and metal."
...And Oceans' Cypher is due out June 17, 2002 in Europe and sometime later in the summer in North America on Century Media Records.
