"some music was meant to stay underground..."

King's X Rocks Ziggy's night club in Winston-Salem, NC on Thursday

King's X hit the stage of the Winston-Salem night club Ziggy's on Thursday the 18Th, to a very anxious and receptive crowd. the set was electrifying and the band was amazing as usual, pulling off complex three part harmonies at will, while never missing a beat, and at the same time finding time to fit unscheduled jam sessions which included not just them but also the opening act Mardo.

Doug Pinnick, Ty Tabor, and Jerry Gaskill have been together for over 23 years and 13 albums, I have seen them perform much earlier in their career (about their fourth album) and from then till now they haven't missed a step, in fact they have only gotten better. It is nothing short of amazing to watch a vocalist like Doug Pinnick, pull off strong album quality vocals and screams, from the first note till the last encore, or as far as that goes to hear a three part harmony done as perfect and precise at opening as it is done at close. but no matter what is written about the show or the band the thing that should be mentioned most is their kindness and accessibility. the band stayed around until every fan that wanted it, had an autograph signed, and a picture taken, taking time to even engage in personal conversation with their fans, you may find a bigger band, but i doubt you will find one more talented or cooler.

You can view some photos from the show in the photo gallery.
