Lamb Of God's Guitarist Talks About New Record

LAMB OF GOD guitarist Mark Morton recently spoke to MTV.com about the band's upcoming CD, "Sacrament", due in August via Epic Records.
"The music's influenced by what the five of us are listening to, what we're writing about, the context in which we're writing, our lives and our experiences," he explained. "We made a deliberate effort not to be so politically motivated this time. We still care about and think about those things, but at this point, creatively, we wanted to step out of that for a moment, and address some other things. So the lyrics are more introspective and more personal, and I think just about anybody will relate to them. Not everybody pays attention to the war or politics."
LAMB OF GOD began recording "Sacrament" on April 3 in New York with producer Machine (BLOODSIMPLE, WHITE ZOMBIE), who also helmed "Ashes of the Wake", and they're currently back in their hometown of Richmond, Virginia, finishing up vocals and guitars.
"The last record sounded so good, and we felt like we'd already made such a big improvement on that record, that we wanted to stick with him to see if we could get it even better the second time around," Morton told MTV.com. "The first time you do a record with someone, typically, you don't even know them, and over the course of the recording you build a relationship. To turn your back on someone and start that process over with someone new just didn't make sense. He was so invested in last record that we felt he had to be a part of this one, too."

Glad to read about the vocalist pushing himself...Clean vocals wouldn't fly with me in this band but I want to hear Blythe take his screams and roars in as many directions as he can. While I like "As the Palaces Burn" better than "Ashes of the Wake" overall, the vocal performance in "Ashes" was far better...Can't wait to hear the next one.
remembermetal? you said what i feel perfectly except, i think if clean vocals are done right they'll work well. what i wanna hear are more solos from this band, but not like they were in the past, somethign that blends with the music more, it sounded like they were in that direction with ashes, but i'd rather hear more of their talent. this is one of the few "mainstream" bands i really like. they deserve what they got.
Man... this record already sounds like it'll be the sh**.
"not to be so politically motivated", and "what we are listening to.... our lives... our experiences". f*** yeah, real true music, bound to be bad-ass, stripped of the political bullsh**.
Ouuuu! The anticipation.
I liked the political bent...
It worked well and on a personal level I agree with their stance (more than Soad's anyway)...However, I want to hear music that comes from the gut, thats almost always better...I'm glad they made their political mark, but I eagerly await something that comes from personal experiences.

dude, i wish death bringer would go on this comment board and kuss your dog-raping a$$ out
Exactly, they can't even play an instrument, plus what the flying f%ck is wrong with them, I mean they always have a dumb @ss towel on stage, is it really that hard to go : yo yo yo yo ? THe next LOG album will be the best and will kick some @aa. Peace out n*%%?$.
Korn and 50 Cent! Please, I'd rather listen to George Strait! Rap sucks! The way Korn is going, I wouldn't be suprised if their next CD is rap! I just got into Lamb Of God, and their tight as hell! Every song I've heard so far I like! I'm looking forward to the Unholy Alliance Tour in Las Vegas!
I gotta disagree...with the way that Korn is going I wouldn't be surprised if their next CD is "adult contemporary". All they need is Kenny G on sax and their bullsh** conversion to pop is complete. I heard Coming Undone at Moxies the other day. Please, when you hear "metal" on the background disc at a restaurant you know it's over...
On the other hand...Lamb of God have the midas touch right now. Sacrement will f***ing slay.
