Korn and Deftones To Team Up For Resurrected Family Values Tour

KORN and DEFTONES will be teaming up for the resurrected Family Values tour late summer/early fall, according to official MySpace bulletins posted by both bands earlier today.

The Family Values Tour was created by KORN in 1998 with the intention of making it an annual trek. KORN headlined the first tour, then passed the headlining spot to LIMP BIZKIT in 1999. The tour took the year off in 2000 due to heavy competition.

Since the tour started, many bands have featured on the bill, such as INCUBUS, ORGY, LIMP BIZKIT, ICE CUBE, RAMMSTEIN, PRIMUS, STAIND, METHOD MAN & REDMAN, THE CRYSTAL METHOD, FILTER, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, LINKIN PARK, STATIC-X, and DEADSY.

Guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer recently hinted that the tour may return when he spoke to Launch Radio Networks.

"We're trying to put together something similar to, like, a Family Values kind of a thing," he said. "We don't know if we're gonna call it that or not, but we wanna put together something sort of a festival feel, where there's four bands on the main stage and then there's four or five bands on a side stage. We want to make our own Kornfest type of thing."

Deftones and Korn came out of the same scene together but have never had one thing in common other than anger being a common theme in some of their songs....Apples and oranges really....Deftones are the better band even if Korn reached a broader audience.

Wow...found myself doing a doubletake when I saw Lord Agony post in something positive about Korn...I think I actually twitched...That being said, welcome back Lord Agony....

Can't say I'm crazy about most of Korns output from 1998 forward...especially the "Otherside" stuff, but I would love to hear them play "Clown" "Ball Tongue" and "Blind" again....I was a mere 14 years old when I heard Korn for the first time and between them and Pantera I was sucked back into metal during the alternative and grunge era...

I would catch the show just to maybe recapture a glimpse of my past and enjoy the f*** out the Deftones....

I was giving [my friend] Andrew back his butterfly knife yesterday, and while I was in class, some idiot goes "Hey whats that in your pocket? Scissors?" and asks it in front of [my english teacher] Mr. Tobey who was a former cop...So Tobey checks me, and takes the butterfly away, and I was BEGGING for it back, cuz it wasn't mine, but he said no, and later in 6th Pd, I was sent to [Principal] Dalton's office, and Officer Tipton padded me down and now I'm on ten day suspension with a recommendation for expulsion. But I'm gonna take my classes in the SOS (Support on Suspension) program at the Community Center. I'm definitely expelled for the rest of this year, if not expelled for good, from either South Lakes High or any school in Fairfax County [Virginia]. I have an expulsion hearing some time next week, and Because bringing the knife to school is also against the LAW, I have a hearing in court as well...I'm told to expect a full on interrogation by an officer where he will pull a Michael Crowe on me (If you don't know who Michael Crowe is, google the name, and you should read of his interrogation by police. He was a preteen interrogated for the murder of his sister, and they interrogated him to a point where he confessed to the murder he never commited. Then they found the real murderer, and he had a case against the police) to try to confuse me and test my reactions to him, so I must constantly keep calm and cool no matter what he says to me (even if its personal grounds where most kids could blow up and lose their cool)...Plus alot of things from even Middle school will come up, and I have to be fully honest...(Oh dear, the skeletons I have in my closet)...Well...My charge is concealed weapon with a blade over 3 inches (felony)...A knife that I wasn't even going to use for combat purposes...So now I'm grounded (I sneak on the computer to talk to you)...Wish me luck? Alot of you here, i'm glad to have had the time to talk to, and open up to...
I have not been caught doing most of the things I've done, the only thing they'll recall is my run-in with police for the last two felonies, and Stuff that I've been caught in school about...I know I messed up, now I'm just gonna do what I gotta do...And Believe me, I'll say nothing BUT the truth. Most of the violence and vandalism, I haven't been caught with...Most of my fights with people were beyond police, and most of the people I fought/harmed was either in defense, or because THEY harmed someone I cared for. You know I'm protective of my loved ones, and I'll do anything in my power to protect them, or avenge them. I will do nothing unprovoked, and without just cause. The knife thing, I just wasn't thinking, my fault, bu teverything else, not only unnoticed by the system, but it would be justified, even if I was caught doing THAT....But yeah, I will do what I must to maintain whatever I need to maintain...Now its just me waiting impatiently for the hearing with the County SChools Administration...
