RIAA Sues Deaf Woman For Downloading Music
In a new low, the RIAA are reportedly suing a 77 year old Nebraska woman for downloading music files to her computer. However, Edna Springer claims she does not know how to download music online and furthmore has no need to since she was born completely deaf.
That's not stopping the RIAA, however. They continue to use hardball tactics to get her to settle for a reported $12,000.00, an amount that Edna has never even earned in a year's salary, much less could afford on her retirement.
A spokesperson for the RIAA had this to say: "Ms. Springer has violated the rights of hundreds of music artists and corporations around the world and needs to pay them for their work that she stole. Our methods leave no room for error, and we know that she has downloaded at least 540 songs. What she does with them is not our concern. She has broken the law and violated copyrights of our clients."
Ms. Springer has been widowed for 20 years and does not have relatives or friends who use her computer, only a dog.
An initial hearing is scheduled for May 15, 2006.

Oh come on! RIAA is such an idiot for sticking to their guns! I hope instead of Edna paying, she'll earn extra 12,000 back for causing her aggravation. :)
