METALLICA and SYSTEM OF A DOWN are strongly rumored to have secured the "headliner" and "special guest" slots at this year's Ozzfest, according to BLABBERMOUTH.NET, citing "industry insiders."
Although no bands have been officially announced for this year's festival, DISTURBED frontman David Draiman revealed during an appearance on the Seattle station 99.9 KISW in January that his band will be appearing on this summer's Ozzfest. Meanwhile, BLACK LABEL SOCIETY's booking agent recently told Billboard magazine that Zakk Wylde and Co. have also been confirmed for this year's trek. UNEARTH guitarist Ken Susi told the Alternative Press on Feb. 14 that his band will be one of the rotating headliners on the second stage of Ozzfest 2006, while Jesse Hayes of the Cleveland radio station WMMS 100.7 FM announced last month during his daily "Buzzard Rock Report" segment that BODY COUNT — the heavy metal band fronted by rapper/actor Ice T — will be performing at this year's traveling festival. BLEEDING THROUGH frontman Brandon Schieppati reportedly revealed at the conclusion of the band's performance at Neumo's in Seattle, Washington Sunday night (Feb. 19) that they will be taking part in Ozzfest 2006. Additional offers to play the tour have been extended to AVENGED SEVENFOLD and ATREYU, according to recently published interviews with both artists.
The Ozzfest organizers are expected to announce the official lineup for this year's festival sometime in March.

I'm so sick of hearing system of a down, all of their songs sound the same. And if you all thought Ozzfest was expensive the past 2 years, just see what happens if Metallica gets a spot. They'll turn this thing into a f***ing metallica-fest.
You should be able to buy 2nd stage tickets, I'll go home at 5pm. There's no reason to pay all that money to see Disturbed (4th ozzfest) S.O.A.D (3rd) Metallica (St. Anger is terrible) & Avenged Sevenfold (Just don't like them) B.L.S is ok.
What the f**k!! I can't believe that even after all the times I've seen crap bands like Atreyu (SEVEN TIMES!), Bleeding Through, Himsa, etc, I still have to hear their generic angst-ridden nonsense YET AGAIN in order to enjoy BLS and whatever other bands I would enjoy (please God let it be Satyricon).
SOAD's has the sh**test lyrics released by a wannabe metal band i've ever read. Their latest album takes the cake with sh**ty songs like cigaro:
"My c*** is much bigger than yours,
my c*** can walk right through the door
With a feeling so pure..
it's got you screaming for more."
WTF? U kids buy this f***ing sh** or what?? only aspiring fags woud be getting off on this live...
pure sh**
....fits in well at ozzfest though
glad to see metallica hope the metallica parts right and systems first two records where good i have to admit and i think 3 inches of bloodshould be on this ozzfest or children of bodom. children wants to play this ozzfest it said on there myspace so y not give a them the spot ensted of these fag bands
Well it would be kind of ironic to have Metallica headline the event, given that their first big tour was supporting Ozzy. I think they could be trusted to respect Ozzy and what he's done in that sense.
Despite being sick of SOAD myself, they are excellent performers, as I found out a coupole years ago when they played Ozzfest. They were the "chill the crowd out" band and played some extended jams in between their more frenetic/spastic hits. I thought they put on a good show though.
I'd probably go to Ozzfest anyway, but here's hoping we have some choices in the DC area this year! (SotU and Gogantour did not come anywhere close last year).
Representatives for METALLICA's management (QPrime) and record label (Warner Bros.) have both rejected as "false" rumors that the band will be headlining this summer's Ozzfest.
METALLICA have lined up a number of European festival appearances as part of their "Escape From The Studio '06" tour, including slots at Germany's Rock Am Ring and U.K.'s Download festivals.
METALLICA recently confirmed in a posting on their official web site that they have recruited Rick Rubin (SLAYER, SYSTEM OF A DOWN, SLIPKNOT, AUDIOSLAVE, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS) to produce their forthcoming studio LP. The news was accompanied on the site by several pictures of METALLICA in the studio with a shoeless Rubin.
METALLICA officially began the songwriting process for their new album late last year and are expected to spend the next few months compiling ideas before entering the final recording stage. A late 2006/early 2007 release via Warner Bros. is expected
Metallica? I doubt they will be headlineing. SOAD are amazing performers, the first 2 cds were the best, the new stuff is ok not real ozzfest though. The last Metallica tour they only played one song from St. Anger, so for yall who hate that cd, like me, you shouldnt have to hear alot from it.
They need Primus, cuz we all know PRIMUS SUCKS!
PERFECT OZZFEST LIST:
SIMPLE PLAN
WICKED WISDOM
CRAZYTOWN
U2
THE DONNAS
AVRIL LEVINE
ASHLEY SIMPSON
DEPECHE MODE
MAROON 5
2ND STAGE:
BACKSTREETBOTS
RED HOT CHILLI PEPPERS
JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE
HILLARY DUFF
ALICIA KEYS
KANE WEST
ROB THOMAS
How's that for mainstream OZZFEST.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
First off, half of you don't know what the f*** your talking about. Your b**ching about all these bands that are going to be there, and complaining how they will "be in the way" of you just seeing one band. If you just want to see that band, wait until they are on their own tour.
Secondly, if you don't want to watch a band there, go sit down or eat or something. No one said you had to f**king watch them. I am willing to bet that half the people complaining about this are old guys. Don't get me wrong, I respect the elderly, but your not going to be able to go to an Ozzfest, Hellfest, or any other kind of metal festival without having to see bands directed to the younger generation.
And as for Black Label Society, yes I am going to bash them, you bash my favorite bands, I bash yours, they put me to sleep at Ozzfest 2005. They put on one of the most boring shows I have ever seen.

Metallica? Oh that's a big turn off for me. Anyways, how did Black Label Society get Second stage and Godsmack get Main stage? A lot of thos bands don't interest me much except for The Red Chord, Between the Buried and Me, Marilyn Manson, Chimaira, System of a down, Disturbed, and Demon Hunter.
"And as for Black Label Society, yes I am going to bash them, you bash my favorite bands, I bash yours, they put me to sleep at Ozzfest 2005. They put on one of the most boring shows I have ever seen."
Man, true that! I was sorta happy they played though, gave me a lil bit to catch my energy so I could totaly thrash for maiden mudvayne and black sabbath. But then again, I wasn't a HUGE fan of zombies either, so I sorta got a big break ^^
Oh well this year doesn't seem to be FANTASTIC, I'd much rather see slayer and bodom, but ozzfest is closer, so we'll see. If all goes we'll I'll be going to all the large tours. I do know though that bleeding through puts on one HELLL of an amazing live show.
