"some music was meant to stay underground..."

It was a cold evening in Columbus, Ohio on December 7, 2005 for a sold out Masters of Horror Tour at the Promo West/LC Pavilion. The opening act – Bobaflex (from Point Pleasant, WV) came out to warm the crowd up. The intensity of the band was stellar. By the time the band came off stage the crowd was ready to rock!

Next came 10 Years from Knoxville, TN. These guys are making their mark in the metal world. Their style reminds me a lot of TOOL. The band was really tight, with a great rhythm section. Jesse handled the vocals with a Maynard (Tool) style. The band was flawless with Lewis Cosby on bass and Brian Vodinh on drums served for a very tight rhythm section. Ryan “Tater” Johnson and Matt Wantland served up some deep Drop “D” Guitar riffs. They left the crowd wanting more.

Then Sevendust took the stage and tore the place up! Now here is a band with not much air-play or a platinum album under their belts - they just rocked. With die hard fans, Sevendust is here to stay. Their new CD, “Best of Chapter One,” will be in stores Dec 27th. The guys came on stage with authority. Lajon’s vocals where flawless and the band was tight. With a new guitarist (Sonny May), you would have thought he has been in the band since day one.

Sevendust’s set list included:

Ass Drop
Face 2 Face

I only wish that they would have kept playing. With no encore, I was a little disappointed, but I’m looking forward to a headlining tour.

Hailing from Peoria, IL, and with 4 gold records under their belt, Mudvayne took the stage last. What can I say but “unbelieveable show?” Mudvayne is a great band with a great stage presence. It was hard to take your eyes off Chad, who is one of the greatest front men you could ever see. With the Mosh pit bouncing and the thunderous Bass of Ryan Martinie and hard hitting drums of Matt McDonough, it was a must see show for everyone.

To sum it up, the Masters of Horror Tour is a show you should not miss. Make sure you get there early. Find your spot on Main floor and hold your own.

I went to the Chicago show, one of the first stops on the tour. I'm going to give you my interpretation of the show, why the hell not??

Bobaflex opened and were pretty good, a lot better than the last time I saw them open for Sevendust.

10 Years, I wasn't sure who they were until they took the stage, then I realized I saw them about a year ago open for Hed Pe, and I still don't like 'em. They didn't seem to fit the bill and the singers vocals kept fading in and out, I spent most of my time drinking beer during their set.

Sevendust: They absolutley kicked ass. I'm not sure what "Ass Drop" is but it should say "Rumblefish" they were loud souded great and had 1-3 pits going throughout their entire set. Wish they would've played "b****" to close things out rather than "Face to Face" but whatever.,

Mudvayne: The first 1/2 of the set was kind of boring, I don't know many of their new songs, but the second 1/2 was good, they played a lot of songs of LD 50 and the only 2 new songs I know/like "Deternined and Happy". Close out with Dig

Overall it was a good show, I don't think there are many dates left, but if you can go, get some tickets and check it out, use 10 years time slot to get some extra beers in ya like I did.
