British heavy metal legends Judas Priest has announced that they have been forced to cancel their planned first shows in South Africa. A statement from the band posted on social media reads as follows:

"Due to circumstances totally beyond our control we are extremely sorry to have to announce that because of logistical and technical reasons the South African shows have been cancelled - we are very disappointed that this has happened as we were looking forward to performing in South Africa for our fans there for the first time - we have been touring the world for nearly 50 years and have always honored our commitments - we are all very upset about this situation."

Judas Priest has been touring in support of their critically acclaimed new album, "Firepower," which was released last year.

What a shame. I hope y'all in SA get a re-do. Saw them with Iron Maiden in early 80's....One of the best concerts on my list...And I've seen many! (AC/DC 17 times!) So sad that all those great metal/rock groups are dwindling down. ROCK ON, YOU HEADBANGERS!

Sucks big time that they cancelled but as they haven't given a reason other than logistics, as headbangers, don't disrespect your country and blame the usual suspects
South Africa rocks and is certainly no war zone. Ram it down and hope they make new dates

WyTF would a band with a gay front man , even consider playing a show in a continent that hates gays, and doesn't acknowledge any rights to choosing to live a certain life style by individual choosing
Not too mention the child sex trafficking, the slavery, the mass corruption and the race attacks on white farmers going on in that country.
Maybe priest just received that memo , and is why they canceled.
What a bunch of hypocrites, especially since halford is always b!tching about hate in the world and homophobia.
So go play in SA.
Genius.
