Korn Finish Laying Down Drum Tracks For New Album

KORN have finished recording the drums for their upcoming studio album and "they turned out amazing," according to an online posting by the group's lead singer, Jonathan Davis. "[On Tuesday, April 26] we start Munky [guitar] and Fieldy [bass]," Davis writes.
According Davis, KORN have worked with several producers during the pre-production stage for the follow-up to 2003's "Take a Look in the Mirror", including Linda Perry, Atticus Clark, The Matrix, and Dallas Austin. Among the cuts that are slated for inclusion on the upcoming CD are "Liar", "Revolution" (described by Davis as "an old-school PARLIAMENT tune"), "Polotix", "Last Legal Drug", "Le Petit Mort" and "Souvenir of Sadness". Davis has hinted that the forthcoming effort may be a double-disc affair, although this has yet to be officially confirmed. A tentative September release is expected.
KORN and rapper XZIBIT's newly recorded cover of PUBLIC ENEMY's "Fight the Power" is among the exclusive tracks are featured on the soundtrack for "XXX: State of the Union", out now on Jive Records.
"XXX: State of the Union" opens April 29 in U.S. theaters. It's the sequel to the 2002 film "XXX", which starred Vin Diesel.

I like KoRn but Untouchables & some of the sh** on Issues are terrible.
In fact they're still one of my favourite bands.
They're dying really. I mean A Prince Cover? A Collaberation with the Game? Head Being a Christian?
I man yeah they're great & i won't think this as my favourite but you never it may be Amazin then i'll shut Up. I mean look at "Word Up". Sounded sh** on papr but was amazin. Hopefully they'll prove me wrong but nevertheless I'll still buy the New Album & KoRn Kovers,still go to their gigs & still defend them on the fact that they were amazin & you know it. As for nu-metal bands jumpin on the bandwagon? Comeon,you know KoRn aren't to blame for that. That's just c*** suckers trying to be cool & up-to-date through plagiarism. When KoRn did it,it was through Influences like Faith No More & NIN. Just so you know i hate Static-X They're sh**. Shocked you didnt it? And HAVE YOU HEARD THE NEW HEAD SONG? IT'S OK!!!!!!!!! Not the best but OK. Mellower KoRn. Anyway long story short. Old KoRn Great. New KoRn not so Great. But Still Great. Fieldy does alot of slapping.That's something that was not a Rock or Metal staple until Flea started doing it and he will tell you that this is someting done primarily by Jazz and or Funk musicians.John does a lot of scat(jazz) and yes beat boxing(hip-hop).They've collaborated with Naz,Ice Cube,Lil john etc.Word up is not an original song it's old 80's funk(Classic Cameo).Fight the Power is classic Hip Hop.Fieldy apparently made a Hip Hop record before.John has been Quoted as saying the only Original music is Hip Hop(matter of opinion).Last but not least DALLAS AUSTIN IS PRODUCING THE NEW ALBUM(TLC FAME).I'm a KoRn fan I've been a bit dissapointed in them lately but a fan none the less.It really annoy's me when you kid's in the younger generation make these rediculous claims and Obviously have no idea what your listening too.The craziest thing is you guy's Keep comparing KoRn to band's that they DO NOT COMPARE TO !!! I love how idiots just come here to say "OMFG KORN SUCKZZ!!" Grow up and back it up with some sort of reasoning. KoRn was the first rock band I actually liked back in the day. Since then I've grown to bigger and better stuff (Metal mainly), but I am still a pretty die hard KoRn fan. I was happy with pretty much every album (especially the first two because they were so raw and powerful). I'm not happy about them collaborating with all of these rappers, but what can I do? All I know is that they don't play those songs live, so I won't have to deal with them. They are a great live act (seen em twice since August) and im gonna continue to see them as long as they are around.
I Dont like Korn, i have never been a fan, but i think Korn could shut up all the haters and put out a really good metal album, instead of making all this rap metal sh** with all these rappers, but they continue to make music that just just sounds boring and horrible, but there is some talent there, and if you ask me pushed to the extreme they could make something good, but i dont no, the future will tell.
KoRn Rules.... Hope this album will rock through... All you who don't like KoRn can SUCK MY d***!!!! Unfortunatley Head is leaving.. I'm not disappointed, but sad.... Head was an awesome guitar player... He will always be remembered as a real KoRn Member........

I wont lie, korn and Nine Inch Nails got the ball rolling for me as far exploring music darker than say Soundgarden.....
Korn were a great band for those who had played Metallicas better material out and needed a new band to guide them toward other kinds of heavy music.
Now i listen to Slayer Trivium Dillinger Escape Plan Opeth Tool and Meshuggah...
if not for korn...god i mite be into those hot topic bands like My Chemical Romance Interpol and The Killers.....

i see alot of people supporting korn because "they love korn" and alot of people dogging korn and their fans because "korn sux"...at the end of the day the drama queens want to kick around people who love a certain band and korn fans happent to be a favorite around here.....my chemical romance being one of the more hated exceptions...........

Korn got me into guitar playing about a year ago.
Now I'm into things like Steve Vai and Yanni(yeah, kind of out of the blue lol).
Anyways, I still love Korn, they're stuff rocks hard and you cannot deny that :). Even if you don’t personally like them, you can at least respect that they have their own style and have stuck to it for over 10 years while keeping it fresh and new with each installment.
So please, both sides of the case, be more constructive.

The Biggest Problems with Lists...
Their inaccurate and pure opinion...Here is me correcting people and useing my own sh**ty opinions to sound smart.
uhmmm.....hatebreed is hardcore......very accessible hardcore....not nu metal
12stones is turn of the century modern hardrock......and garbage as well.
Incubus is a more modern take on the red hot chilli peppers......semi-elelctic-funk-hard rock...some real genuine talent in that band...they havent really moved me since 'science' and 'make yourself' though.....very sincere records those first (major label)two.....NOT (nu)METAL though!!!!!!
Trust Company = hardrock that sucks a little less than 12 stones but still doesnt make the grade...
adema have the worst lyrics this side of a "Sesame Street" song coming from an insanity ward....good lead guitarist though...i admit a certain respect for skill when i hear it.

I work at a hospital and i work 12 hours shifts.....i ended up working two back to back and i nearly went batty by the end of my second shift....what was worse was that once i got home i couldn't sleep....
This happens from time to time so if you see a really odd post from me it's for that reason, i think i actually started posting here with those weird outbursts before i really started commenting on music even though i've been coming to this site for ages......Drugs havent been a part of my routine in a good 4-5 years now.....
i just likes my booze a couple times a week now....but i had 11 hours of uninterupted sleep so im peachy now.

Look I know the truth hurts but if it wasn't for KoRn slipknot wouldn't be here. KoRn started the nu-metal thing and everyone else thought it sounded good and started playing with the same sound so I ask you this how can KoRn suck if most of the mainstream bands took their sound. I dont think they would take a sucky bands sound b/c it sounded like sh**....
i too was a fan of korn and slipknot, but in the last couple of years they have aimed more of there stuff towrds the kiddie crowd. its kind of pathetic when you see 12-14 year-olds wearing slipknot and korn clothing, and acting like they are so metal now that they listen to new generic metal. if korn/slipknot relieced a cd that was more like there old stuff, it would be amazing, but this new stuff they are kicking out is so lacking compared to there old stuff. there feeling the pressure to become more generic, so they sell more cds, which is there downfall.

OK I keep hearing this.KoRn started Nu Metal.KNOW THEY DID NOT.What is now considerd Nu Metal actually started with band's like LIVING COLOR,BAD BRAINS,KING'S X,FAITH NO MORE and certaine other band's that gained noteriety if not fame during the Grunge era.All KoRn did(although highly exceptional at first.somewhat not as good as they used to be now)is pick up the ball and run with it when saide previous band's either split up or lost popularity.ACCEPT IT !!!!

Korn took something that was already there added 7 string downtuned guitars 6 string bass also down tuned a singer with a damaged child history and a bit of vocal range and brought what i consider to be a very land mark album (their debut) to the table and with each following album fell into a hole of disrepair....sad but so it goes. they made their impact their impact whatever they do now won't reach the critical praise of their debut or the commercial boom of "follow the leader".

Theres not many bands that can express thier emotions as well as KoRn. If some people dont like them thats cool. Everyone is different and we all have our own ears. But you really shouldnt say they suck, because thier way past multi platnium status. As long as there people who like them they dont suck. Sure you may not like, you may not even be able to stand them, but they dont suck. I listen to it all from The Doors to Fear Factory, and I like it all. And if I dont like it I respect it. Seriously quit tellin people to f*** off and suck your d***s because at the end of the day what does that accomplish. KoRn is my faviorite band, and probaly always will be. If you dont like them thats understandable. Making fun of people for there musical tastes is just immature. You cant change what people like.

Souvenir of Saddness is gonna be a mix of FTL and Issues. So I dont think this album is gonna suck. They never sucked really. Thats just how I feel. But since FTL was their best selling album and so was Issues this one will go above and beyond. And not to mention FTL is everyones favorite album. They are kinda going back to being old school but not all the way. I;m deffenetlly excited and cant wait!!!!

Ok, KoRnFaN94, a small Metal 101 right now, being as it's late.....
First, Black Sabbath is considered the first "heavy metal" band. They were influenced by The Beatles, so if you insult The Beatles, remember where metal came from.
Black Sabbath's album Paranoid is a good place for you to start, it may sound old and not as heavy as something from nowadays, say Children of Bodom, but it was the late 60's/early 70's, that's heavy for that time, and to me the album is still HEAVY.
Led Zeppelin is next. They were revolutionaries. Jimmy Page was a god on that guitar of his. Robert Plant wrote some of the most brilliant and sometimes confusing(only if you were really stoned) lyrics.
Jimi Hendrix, there is so much I can say about him, another revolutionary. He was lefthanded, taught himself how to play on a right-handed guitar. Honestly, I'm left handed and that is hard to do, so I have alot of respect for Hendrix to be able to do that. Songs that are a must-listen to are "Hey Joe" "Purple Haze" and "All Along the Watchtower."
Judas Priest, who formed in 1969, have such a variety of songs to listen to, essentially were the "bad boys" of the time, of course, by this time, Ozzy Osbourne had split form Sabbath and went solo.
Other bands from this time that I suggest you check out are Bad Company, Golden Earring, late Beatles material, Deep Purple, and Pink Floyd
Now, I pause to say this, listen to everything, pick out what you like to listen to, if you like Cradle of Filth and Korn, go ahead and listen to that. Yes, fellow thread members, I just told him to listen to Korn, but only if he likes it. We're not forcing him to not listen to it. What I'm saying is that you should be more open minded about it.
Ok, towards the eighties was was a lot of different things, you had the beginnings of thrash(underground mostly) and the disbandment of alot of the bands from the previous decades. Metal took a big turn then, bands like Van Halen and Warrant were huge. Iron Maiden was gaining a large following. Thrash bands like Metallica and Anthrax had larger audiences everyday. Alot of different types of metal happened during this time.

Anthrax- Fistful of Metal, Armed and Dangerous, Attack of the Killer B's(all B-sides), and Among The Living.

Heavy metal, hard rock, grunge(which is more or less like emo is to punk), death, Satanic(which is kinda like death), hair metal(think Bon Jovi), goth metal(Type O Negative), thrash(Anthrax, early Metallica), and gore metal(Cannibal Corpse, GWAR(although GWAR doesn't sound like it, they're more of a thrash band, their stage so is gory, so much fun!)). And I'm sure the fellow panelists will state other types of metal, because they know that I'm writing these out as they pop into my head.
Industrial music came around in the late 80's. Nine Inch Nails' debut album, Pretty Hate Machine, was released in 1989. Go listen to it. Another Industrial band you should check out is Ministry.
Laso, in the 80's was a sorta techno/goth punk thing that went on, with bands like Depeche Mode and The Cure, both of whom are genius groups to me. It's not metal, but they're worth a mention.
Bands in the 80's that are still around today:
Metallica, Megadeth, Judas Priest, Anthrax, Aerosmith, U2, and Iron Maiden.
You could say they having "staying power."

I can clarify the NIN thing. Pretty Hate Machine is NIN's debut full length.
Prior to that, NIN released the single for "down in it". It's a single with a bunch of remixes. Most of the halos are actually remixes and singles, as NIN only have these full length records:
"Pretty Hate Machine", "Broken" ( a rather long ep), "Fixed" (remix of Broken) "Downward Spiral", "The Fragile" (my favorite) and most recently "With Teeth".
Reznor put out various singles like 'The Perfect Drug' as stand alone singles and also compilations of music videos and live performances that also ended up getting the halo label......I'm not entirely sure but I think Trent Reznor is up to halo 19 as of today.

I liked "Facelift" "Dirt" and "Sap"..."Jar of flies too". Every Alice album had it's strong tracks really. Didnt care for self title/tripod so much but it was still a cut above most of what was coming out in the good ol nineties....
Ah, my terrible teen era: blind dates, hilariously drunken proms, leaving dead animals on the porches of cheerleaders, molotov c***tales, mailbox baseball, underage everything.......and AIC was one of the bands that was a crucial part of that soundtrack to the loss of childhood innocence only NIN and Tool did it as well or better.
