Official Ozzfest 2005 Tour Dates And Lineup Revealed

Ozzfest — the king of festivals — triumphantly returns this summer to celebrate its hard-earned 10th anniversary with the staggering line-up of BLACK SABBATH, IRON MAIDEN, ROB ZOMBIE, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, SHADOWS FALL and BLACK LABEL SOCIETY. The summer's premier concert festival — which has propelled many of today’s rock bands to superstardom while paying close attention to its discerning fans — will roll out July 15 in Boston and visit 26 cities by the time it reaches West Palm Beach on September 4. The Hot Topic Second Stage will be headlined by ZOMBIE and feature a preview of rock's rising stars, including AS I LAY DYING, MASTODON, THE HAUNTED, IN FLAMES, ARCH ENEMY, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, BURY YOUR DEAD, SOILWORK, TRIVIUM, IT DIES TODAY, A DOZEN FURIES and more.
"I'm most proud of the success of Ozzfest," says founder Sharon Osbourne. "Everyone said it would never happen and 10 years later we are still in business." In fact, 125 bands, 238 shows and over 4 million fans later, the all-day extravaganza of music and deranged merriment is roaring louder than ever. History in the making, 2005 marks the first time metal legends BLACK SABBATH and IRON MAIDEN have toured together and also represents IRON MAIDEN's first Ozzfest appearance.
IRON MAIDEN singer Bruce Dickinson said, "This summer's MAIDEN touring is based on the recent 'Early Days' DVD and all the songs we do at Ozzfest will be from our first four albums — 'Iron Maiden', 'Killers', 'Number of the Beast' and 'Piece of Mind'. We will be bringing over our full European show, naturally including as special guest Eddie in various appropriate guises!! The stage sets, production and backdrops will recreate aspects of the shows on the tours around those albums — only bigger… much bigger!!! We don’t know if anyone has done anything like this before but we think it’s something the fans will really appreciate both in the choice of songs and in the production values."

As for Anthrax - if you look on Ozzfest.com, there is a blank slot for the 3rd slot on the mainstage. My guess is that this is where Anthrax belongs, but it may be held up by reunion related negotiations that are quite common. Pure speculation, but that's what I'd put my money on. I do hope Anthrax play Ozzfest though, regardless of who's singing.
But overall, I'm very impressed with that lineup. Seems they've got some real solid bands all around, and didn't just follow the latest trend (still metalcore).
Ive been sayin that ozzfest 2004 is going to go down as one of the best metal tours EVER!!! this years cant hold a candle to last years but its still goign to be a good one....Mastodon, In Flames, As I lay Dying, The Black Dahlia Murder, TRIVIUM (the best metal band of 2005), bury your dead, shadows fall, IRON F-CKIN MAIDEN...i mean, its going to be a good concert. Cant wait to see who the last minute bands are....Anthrax would be badass...and i could have sworn i heard mudvayne was going to do the 2nd stage, what happend to that?
Man, first Judas Priest...now Iron Maiden. It seems ozzfest has finally started to get good. And it's awesome to see some Europian bands on the bill (Arch Enemy, In Flames). I dare say this ozzfest is just as good as last years. I don't know though...the presence of Rob Zombie disturbs me a bit. But hey, no festival lineup has been perfect.
Line up looks pretty cool but I was really hopeing that System of a Down would be put on this years Ozzfest. I was also hopeing that Lamb of God would get luck and get to come back again but they are doing their other tours this summer (CANT WAIT TO SEE THEM 4/20 HELL YA). I cant stand Rob Zombie so thats kinda dissapointing. Iron Maiden will be amazing and that is one of the coolest things ever. WHERE IS DENVER ON THAT LIST DAMIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ok for any of you f***s who say all these different bands suck...doesnt matter who sucks or who doesnt, if you dont like it, stay the f*** away, i bet most of you who are putting down half these bands, are the p***y garage bands that dont have a chance and dream of what you wont be..lamb of god for example..hardcore or metal...either way you look at it, it all revolves around the same place...we are all metal heads, and some of us may listen to metalcore like killswitch or others, but f*** people..ozzfest is a time to celebrate the recognition of metal and show out to all metalheads nationwide that metal is still alive and is still kicking ass....so respect the ones who may not sound the best compares to others, it all revolves around the same world my friends....
Death Metal is the best metal out there why isn't Cannibal Corpse, Dark Funeral, or Mortician ever going to be in the line up? I'll tell you why, because their so f***ing loud and heavy it will blow all the other bands coming out of the water don't ever talk sh** about Death Metal. And yeah Dimmu Borgir would be nice if you go to their home site they say they are in the line up but I don't know. And sh** Come to DENVER you all know we got the best moshes out there!!!!!

As for how "metal" I am, why don't you go back and read my posts. My favorite band was and is still Pantera and ranking right up there in my number one slot is Maiden. I have probably been to more shows, kicked azz in more mosh pits, and have met more bands than you ever have. But, it's not all about who's this and who's that. Damn man, show some respect. I hate nu metal and all that crap but you will never see me calling anybody f#gs or pu55y in my posts.

redmist does have some point. i do like mainstream black metal, but most of it is meant to stay underground. Besides, most of the black metal bands that exist are srictly studio, especially the greats. Darkthrone, Mayhem, Gorgoroth, just to name a few. Not to mention Burzum. Im still going. i dont give a fu<;k. Black metal fest would FU<;KING ROCK though.

Has anybody heard who might be in the 3rd main stage spot? I'm in Chicago, and on the radio they said that Velvet Revolver might take over for Iron Maiden when they drop off the last 7 or 8 dates. It would be cool to see Slayer (again) or Sevendust. Both are going to be putting out new albums soon. I don't really care to see V.R., and I don't think they are the kind of band that would take the third slot.

I went to last years ozzfest with SLAYER and LAMB OF GOD and that was so f***in awesome, but this years line up is really pethetic for a 10th year aniversary. I mean MAIDEN and SABBATH should be awesome(SABBATH was kick a$$ last year also) but thats all really worth seeing. I think the worst band is BLS, havent they been on ozzfest like 5 times.....they´re getting really gay.

I heard that on 94.7 the other night (late). They said Vel Rev would jump in for those last 7 shows. They said nothing of the 3rd main stage spot. Just found out God Forbid, Caliban, It Dies Today,and Full Blown Chaos are playing at the Clearwater in Dundee on Monday for like $12
I agree that there should be more death metal, but In Flames, Mastodon, and Soilwork are enough for me. The Jester Race is one of the best albums ever so I better get to at least here Moonshield. COB needs to be there though. I heard a rumor once that Megadeth was going to be there (has anyone else heard this) If they were is would TOTALLY rock. Up the IRONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On a serious note, I know what you're thinking, "there's just not enough population in Australia to support such a concernt". The truth is all these brain washed teenages obsessed with this "Australian Idol" bullsh*t are actually demonic by nature......they just haven't been shown the light, or the dark. All I'll say is that there are alot of devoted heavy metal fans in this part of the world. Let me provide you with an example......in 2003 I was prepared to travel to Donnington England to catch Iron Maiden and Metallica. That's $2000AUS not including the concert ticket. If I can travel across the world I'm sure people would travel across a couple of state borders or from Asia to catch the spectacle. I eagerly await your answer. P.S Shrimps suck! dude ne one that wants to go ozzfest is not truely worthy if they want freakin system of a down to b there because all they would play is their crappy music that is getting more and more emo as they go.. if they played their really REALLY old stuff then... they might b able to play on the second stage... but that would be a stretch too

I used to be a huge manson fan back during "portrait of an american faimly" days. Even Antichrist was good. I lost all respect when it came "cool" to be a Manson fan. all these little 13 year olds running around with the black lipstick and fishnet stockings. I still listen but he is not a good Ozzfest fit. I saw him at Ozzfest 2 years back and looking around, it didn't seem like anybody cared or was watching for that matter.
As for System of a Down..........please don't play Ozzfest. I remember back when they first played there like 5 or 7 years ago, I can't remember but it wasn't that great.
What the hell? We were all set to buy up tickets and go to the Ozzfest in St. Louis this year, and... NO St. Louis? Do they not realize that a lot of us aren't going to drive all the way to Chicago just to see the show? They'll be missing out on quite a bit of profit there this year... As a Missouri resident (and someone who was eager to see her first Ozzfest show) I have to say bluntly that - this blows the big one.

april 6th ....... glendale arena ...... cant wait to see f***ing lamb of god. anyway, i think it sucks that ozzfest doesnt hit the same cities every year cuz phoenix gets skipped every other year, literally, we get ozzfest every other year and it f***ing sucks. Anybody go to Jagermeister Tour last year w/ Slipknot and Fear Factory? Alterbridge (Creed) is playing this year, what the f*** happened to that tour?

Lamb of god is metal, but not slipknot. Try out Darkthrone, EMPEROR, or Mayhem. or even some viking metal like Amon Amarth. Once turntables get involved, thats not metal anymore.

As for cities gettin screwed over, there is no Atlanta, Miami, or Tampa dates either. In their prime, bands like maiden, dio, ac/dc, ozzy etc. set the standard for live shows. If not for them, most heavier bands today would not even exist. SO ANYONE not giving these guys their dues now are not "real" metalheads. Show respect.....please...they deserve it, if you don't like them then don't go!!
Yo I may not know what im really talkin about al the time, but I do know that all this bullsh** name callin is not METAL! You all are such Pusssies. Who cares if some one doesn't like Death Metal, and who cares if some one likes nu-metal its all some ones stupid opinion even if is a gay one. But about ozz fest, was lookin foward to sein Maiden till I found out that they wernt comin to Tennessee, now I'm p***ed. I wasalso wanting to see Rob Zombie because he kicks ass. But hes on the second stage and that sucks. Plus now I'm hearing that Velvet Rvolver will be there to intrudce Black Sabbath. That sucks my balls. I went to ozzfest 2004 and Black Sabath did kinda suck, but don't get me wrong I love their songs, but the performance was short, and kinda boring. I want to say that the mystery band should be PRIMUS!!!!!!! If you dont know who that is look them up on PRIMUSLIVE.com. That would kick ass. And I read somewhere up there that METALLICA isnt ozzfest material. B/S they kick ass. if they came they would take the show. They would knock all these new bands out of the water. But yeah Primus needs to be there, I want to see them before they split again. And Im p***ed at Maiden those Losers thay rock but they will go back to Europe. Well I respect every one on here and there beliefs in metal Later.
Being a fan of G-N-R from way back when, also a HUGE fan of STP, I like Velvet Revolver but not as much as I like the 2 individual bands. Does this make sense, the way I worded it? Scott Weiland is one of the best front men, period. And I love Slash, he kicks ass. I would LOVE to see Rob Zombie, I am also a big fan. Sabbath and Maiden too... SOAD would have been an excellent addition to the bill....
