Trivium: The New Metallica
Band Photo: Metallica (?)
In an article from the New York Metro newspaper, writer Amber Ray finds the new Metallica - Trivium. Several excerpts from the article:
Dreaming of becoming the next Metallica seems so early 90's. But forgive the boys of Orlando, Fla.-based metal outfit Trivium for wanting to recapture the rock gods' glory days. When James Hetfield and company broke into the mainstream, Trivium's members were still in elementary school.
"I think that ever since day one our main goal was to be the next Metallica." says 18-year-old Heafy [lead vocals and guitar] over the phone. "Ever since I joined the band when I was 13, the drive to grab that goal never fell through."

I dont know thing one about Trivium, but so long as their inspired by something as powerfull as Metallica (was..) then much more power to em. Hopefully Metallica will take a look at themselves in the same way Trivium looks up to them and undo the horror of St. Anger. Time will tell.
Metallica in my mind will go on living and then die as the GREATEST f***ing band that has or will ever be created. Metallica, they are my idol's. I love metallica more then anything ever created on gods dark planet. I know no one here knows me, I was looking for that new System of a Down and just happened to look for metallica. I would like to take the time to do one thing in my life, and that is thank James, Kirk, Lars, and now Robbie. I believe that they rule!! I cant say it any other way other then that. I think its cool bands want to become the next Metallica, but they are gonna have a long road for that.
I have been playing guitar for nearly 4 years now..Kirk Hammet is the reason i ever picked one up. With James and Kriks Heavy intertwined riffs they are without a doubt one of the MOST influential rock bands...they will ALWAYS be an AWESOME band..But Trivium in my eyes has the Ability to be AS great or even SURPASS Metallica..Matt Heafy is one of the best RECENT guitarist and Vocalist Ive seen in awhile..this band has talent, ambition and the desire to be a GREAT band ..Im all for it..
I don't know a whole hell of alot about TRIVIUM but I like what I've heard . In the meantime are we really that angry that METALLICA has changed so much . It happens to every great performer of every style of music it almost had to happen . I sure as hell was'nt surprised . All the other band's from that era are still pretty much the same (ANTHRAX , SLAYER etc.) One of them had to go the rout of big bucks sooner or later It just happend to be them . Hell my favorite albums were RIDE THE LIGHTNING , JUSTICE FOR ALL , LOAD and RELOAD and that's the order . theyve gone in a different dierction and unlike another band being refrenced on a different feed I think their doing OK . I've got no real complaints .
