Ringtones Under Fire
"Ring tones are the new Napster" is the title of an article on ZDNet UK about how the RIAA has set its sites on companies selling unlicensed ringtones. Because these companies do big business over in Europe and Asia, I entirely agree with the RIAA on their actions for once. I also noticed a larger percent of the free ringtone sites disappeared in favor or pay for ringtone sites.
If you know of a good FREE ringtone site, let me know, as I'm always looking for cool rings for my Ericsson. I obviously do not disagree with trading of these tunes, but it's wrong to make money by selling alternative versions of an artists' work without their permission and without compensating them.
