The same people who tell us to "...judge not less ye be judged, love our neighbor, forgive the sins of others, do what Jesus would do, mourn the loss of others, get to know a person for them as an individual, not for what they look like, be humble and meek, care for the feelings of others, reach out to those in need, every human is made in the image of God, " and most of all "treat everyone, living and dead, with respect, love and compassion" now say "good riddance" to Dimebag Darrell.
An excerpt from the Iconoclast's Contributing Editor William Grim, who feels such a way, is below:
"But one can see why the heavy metal fans so closely identified with Mr. Abbott. He was an ignorant, barbaric, untalented possessor of a guitar and large amplifier system. Freakish in appearance, more simian than human, he was the performer of a type of "entertainment" that can be likened only to a gorilla on PCP. Lacking subtlety, wit, style, emotional range and anything approaching even the smallest iota of intellectual or musical interest, Mr. Abbott was part of a generation that has confused sputum with art and involuntary reflex actions with emotion."
As for those heavy metal fans who attended the vigils for Dime... "It was an assemblage of ignorant, semi-human barbarians who were filthy in attire and manner, intellectually incoherent and above all else, hideously ugly to the point of physical deformity. Here is a definite case in which the outer appearance of these "fans" accurately represented the hideousness of their souls. That the physical deformity of their ugliness was self-inflicted makes the spiritual tragedy of their misspent lives all the more tragic."

That article was mean spirited and wrong in a number of ways. I had the misfortune of having my number pasted below that article. Many people thought that I had something to do with it - I had not. Just a programmer who turned up on their whois database searches. Normally I would just let something like that go, but when I read the actual article in question, I was shocked. I would like to thank Mr.Grim for his comments. Every time I read that article, I get more p***ed off- so I just have to vent a litte...

Alright, that's a little better. I will feel much better once I send this man an email, and tell him how me and just about everybody else here feels. I was reading Metal Hammer (and what a coincidence, Dimebag was on the cover!) and in the section for new bands, there was a small blurb about Terror (hardcore band if you didn't know). Im not a fan of the music they put out, but I still respect what they do. The lead vocalist made an excellent point, kind of like what I said in my last post. "If you don't know what's up with the hardcore scene from the inside, then you'll just see a bunch of bald, ugly, tattooed people." The same goes for any genre of heavy music. I continually have arguments with my parents about heavy metal, and how they think it's violent, and all the people look goofy with their tattoos and peircings. I get really f***ing p***ed when they do say dumb sh** like that. I made them read that article from which I got the above quote. They still just see ugly, tattooed, and pierced people. They just don't understand. It floats right over their heads.I can't wait to visit my local tattoo parlor.... But at least my parents don't say retarded sh** like William f***ing Grim. They know that I find extreme enjoyment out of metal (like they get from the forms of music they listen to) and they're cool with that. Hah. That f***ing wanker listens to opera and classical music. Hi, I'm not a heavy metal rocker or anything, but i would like to offer my condolences to you all and Darrell Abbott's family. From what I've read in the past few minutes, with the exception of the above 2 posts which are despicable, Dimebag seemed like a good man and a great contributor to heavy metal music.

I read with amazement and shock your despicable article about Dimebag Darrell Abbott. I'm going to venture a guess and say that you never met Darrell. How could you hate someone you've never met so much? What fuels your hatred for Mr. Abbott and the people who were fans of his music? Whatever the reason for your hate, that is what makes you such a terrible human being. I see no reason to have such feelings toward Dimebag, or heavy metal and its fans. You have become quite the perfect example of an ignoramus. I've seen people like you before, and I know your kind. You preach moral values to others, and then turn around and spew this nonsense. Why not pratice what you preach?
Whatever happened to caring for the feelings of others? How about reaching out to those in need? And how about one the most important of all- treating everyone, living and dead, with respect, love and compassion? It seems you have forgotten those simple things while submerged in your hatred.
I find it absolutely putrid and disgusting that one human being could view another normal human being who is guilty of nothing in such a harsh way. I find there is no need to judge or criticize or judge someone on their appearance, no matter how barbaric they appear. For someone to criticize another on something like musical talent, the person doing the critizing should be of equal or greater talent. So Mr. Grim, how many riffs can you play on the guitar? Do you know the correct wiring and attachments required to play an electric guitar on stage? Do you have the guts to get up one stage, and not care if people are trashing you? Darrell was not just a possesor of a guitar. He was born with the talent. Hundreds of thousands of Pantera and Damageplan would testify to that. Yes, Dimebag Darrell and his bands had that many followers.
Your view of metal fans is completely distorted and absolutely insane. You obviously don't have an inside view of the metal world. Therefore, you know nothing of what really goes on. And what really goes on? Just normal occurences. There are bands struggling to make it to the top, and then there are bands who are titans of the metal genre. It's a pretty normal form of music. In your article, you stated that you were partial to classical music. This tells me that you don't listen to heavy metal, and probably never have. So how did you come to know so much about the metal world, not being a fan of metal music? I find that very strange.
Your words are absolutely ludicrous. Many of the lyrics written in/by Pantera were very personal and have deep meanings. All you have to do is read them, or listen to their songs. As I said before, you strike me as the type that wouldn't listen to metal. So why write an article on music you don't listen to? You have made it quite clear that you hate it. In another childish claim, you say that the lives of these fans are misspent. I do not see how you can find that out. You could not even fathom the sympathy and grief those fans and I feel. I regard all your inane statements as nothing but assumptions. Assumptions on a subject you are not well versed in. It has been instilled in me that you should look on the inside of something before you make assumptions and judgements. Dimebag Darrell never had anything coming. He was just bringing enjoyment to his fans through his music. Nathan Gale was a mentally unstable person-his mother admitted that he wasn't stable when not on medication. And, coincidentally, he wasn't on medication during the time of Dimebag Darrell"s shootings. That proves that it was nothing more than a mentally unstable man who murdered Dimebag-he never had it coming, not with the kindness, warmth and friendliness he treated everybody with.
Dimebag Darrell will be remembered as an amazing guitar player, and an amazing person. You will never come close to matching what he has accomplished. If you stick with the attitude you have now, nobody will remember you, and frankly, I don't think you're worth a damn thing.
One last question: if Dimebag Darrell were still alive today, would you still have insulted him?
I commend you William Grim, you are have reached the level of low-life, bottom feeding scum. And you certainly brightened up the holidays for a whole lot of people. If you are not a cowardly man, I expect a response to this letter, and answers to my questions.

i know this is probably a bad example, but you know when you have to pull over to the side of the road when a funeral motor cade is going by to show respect for the dead? it's kind of like that. some things are just better left unsaid. i mean we all learned this in kindergarten, how old do you think this guy is? he's gotta be well out of kindergarten! remember the golden rule?? we probably all know it by heart. this Mr.Grim guy is just so pathetic that he can't even show respect for Dime. oh what a colourful world we live in. people just don't know when to shut up! like me, right now, rambling on to a bunch of people i don't know, who probably really don't give a rats a$$ what i have to say.
i just needed to let that all out to somebody, and being as Mr.Hill didn't answer his phone, my sister said to go to this site, and vent.

When I look at this letter, and other sh** like this, it makes me feel really good that im a metal head, and it's a real good reminded of how much i love listening to and supporting this kind of music.

Ive tried sending the letter to Mr. Grim from numerous email account, but none of them work..i keep getting a message saying that a host named iconclast.ca can't be found. I'm not much of a computer person..does anybody know how I can get this letter to Mr. Grim?
