Thank you Marcus, you've been sayin' what me and my friends have been saying the past 5 years. There are no good metal festivals in America anymore. Just Trendfest - oh I mean Ozzfest. I'm glad to know someone else feels the same. I don think I've ever heard Doro but if they are half as good as any other band on the bill they will kick ass. But I guess the thing I'm most Jealous About is Amon Amarth, I have never seen them and they are a kick a$$ band. If you never heard of them go buy their first Album "once sent from the golden hall" and listen to "Victorious March" and you will know why I love this band so much. Then go buy "VS. the World", and...well just go buy it you'll know why I can't describe it.
Hey Big_Dan - well teh problem is really bad for us in Maryland, because we have no good metal festivals near us anyway. All of Europe could go to Wacken Open Air and it'd be closer that us going to Milwaukee Metal fest... Even the New Engladn Metal and hardcore fest is pretty much out of rqange. But things have improved quite a bit in the past year or two in the States. Ozzfest was at its best in 2004, and we've got the Jagermeister Tour twice a year and Headbanger's Ball to count on, not counting all of the other great tours that bands and labels have been putting together. And we do have more an more 1-off fests popping up around the states, but they're just not the caliber of the classic European metal fests. Give it some more time - things are looking up here.
