Kittie, Otep, Crisis Philly Show Report
Band Photo: Kittie (?)
I recently attended the Kittie, Otep and Crisis show in Philadelphia on October 10th, 2004. I was supposed to have a photo pass but due to circumstances out of my control that didn't happen, so I apologize to all for not having any pictures to share with you. Anyway, here's my report of the night:
The show started off with the sound people making a few errors, which damped the spirits of the crowd and all three bands that took the stage that night. Nevertheless Crisis played through the technical errors and even though the crowd was not into them all that much they still played their set with a high level of energy. After Crisis left the stage it took a little while for the stage crew to set up, but finally Otep took to the stage.
Otep managed to play through their entire set, even with the errors that were being made all night by the sound people. You could tell it was frustrating Otep because she slammed down her microphone stand a few times and screamed "Fuck you!" at whoever was behind the sound board that night. Regardless, they still played on. Playing everything from "Blood Pigs" to "Warhead" and everything in between. In one instance, a moronic fan decided to shout out "Will you have my babies?" and to an immature delenquent that might be amusing, but any Otep fan knows about the struggles the singer had as a child with her father. So in spite of that she just shook her head at the "fan" as if she were saying "No" but then decided to just flip him off and then continue on with their set.
Next to take the stage was Kittie, they played about 4 songs off of the new album, Until The End. They played a few off of Oracle and a few off of Spit as well. They kicked the fans asses the whole night, even the girls were getting in on the moshin'. There were about 10 different times where the pit was all girls and it was great to see that they love to mosh as well. With a few exceptions, or assholes that decided to "hardcore dance" during the girl pits, it was an all around great show and I would highly suggest anyone that has a chance to see any of these bands to go do so ASAP!
