Exciter Reunites With Original Trio Of Members

After a series of cryptic announcements via Facebook, the Canadian old school metal pioneers in Exciter have made the announcement that the original trio of John Ricci, Dan Beehler and Allan Johnson will be reuniting and playing their first confirmed gig at the Keep It True Festival on April 24th of 2015. The classic line-up plans to record new material as the first order of business this year.

This announcement comes after a string of conflicting posts made on the Exciter page in the past six weeks. Originally, a status update was posted on Feb. 24th stating that John Ricci was retiring from the band. Ricci vehemently countered that he only wanted to step away to regroup from some unpleasant personnel dealings in the band.

Then on April 4th, a status update appeared saying that bassist Rob 'Clammy' Cohen had been dispatched from the group. Vocalist Kenny 'Motor Mouth' Winter then posted on April 7th about a hiatus he was going to take to work on another project, followed by a post from John Ricci about 'big news' being on the horizon shortly.

Here is the official announcement from John Ricci himself, posted on Exciter's Long Live the Loud page.

"Great news to all Exciter fans worldwide - myself and original members Dan Beehler and Allan Johnson have officially re-united! We intend performing our bone crushing neck-snapping speed metal in as many countries that will have us!

To celebrate our long anticipated reunion our first confirmed gig will be at the Keep It True festival in Lauda-Konigshofen, Germany, April 24th 2015. We hope to see you there! Our performance will consist of all the classics that established Exciter as one of the pioneers of speed and thrash. New material and a new release will eventually follow.

I also want to comment on my so-called 'retirement,' which was posted on various sites on Feb. 24th by the former Exciter members. In my opinion, this retirement announcement was fabricated exaggeration. What I did say is that 'I need a break from music' due to some rebellious behaviour from one of the musicians in the band.

So at this point all that BS is behind me and I am now focusing on delivering some new ear splitting brain rattling METAL with Dan and Allan! I want to thank all the loyal and dedicated fans and music industry individuals that contacted me during this false retirement statement and offering their support and a positive outcome to a situation that was non-repairable.

Hope to see you soon with 'horns high and fists in the air!'"

@# 2: wrong line-up, buddy: John Ricci didn't play on "Unveiling the Wicked" already--that was Brian McPhee. Beehler/Ricci/Johnson line-up is "WWIII" Shrapnel comp, the 1st three LPs, and "Feel the Knife" EP.
