Nightwish's Tuomas Holopainen To Pen Children's Books
Nightwish have issued a quick update that mastermind and keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen will again be taking some time away from the band to focus on a new endeavor. In light of the upcoming release of "The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck," Holopainen will also be penning and releasing an official collection of children's books, filled with both short stories and full-length epic poems. The singer's noteworthy pairing with illustrator Don Rosa has been extended to these books, as well, and will feature prominent displays of Rosa's illustrations.
"I've always felt that, in my career, I've always felt a little like a child, myself," Holopainen notes. "It was just a step away from what I've been doing with Nightwish." The collection of upcoming books, he notes, is to include stories that address the issues of finding out who you are, how to realize your dreams, and how each person can have their own unique adventures in life, noting that the books will cover an array of animal species as protagonists. "With my longtime interest in Scrooge McDuck finally realized, it has allowed me to open myself up a little more."
April 11th will see the release of "The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck" hit shelves in North America via Nuclear Blast, with the first of the series of children's literature to follow in early summer. Supplemental audio books will be released with narration by Nightwish bassist Marco Hietala, who adds that "This is a great opportunity for me to expand my vocal range of expression. I've always been the loud one in Nightwish, playing the evil-type character in songs. It will be nice to voice even more characters this way." The series of literature is due out through Nuclear Blast, and will be available in select retailers and through mail-order.
