Fullminator Releases Full Album Stream

With a sound rooted in the punky origins of thrash, Fullminator (who say they are from Puerto Rico, but we know better) pack 17 minutes of non-stop riffing into five songs on their third release Omniplasm.

These beings may have come from outer space, but they have certainly learned Earthly customs of metal and shock rock well - they’ve studied the works of Anthrax, Overkill, and GWAR, and blended it into a fury of notes and blasts. There’s no messing around on each opener as they get down to the nitty gritty of thrashing, especially on first track “Artificial Immolator (AI)”. Each song comes equipped with a ripping solo from Cyber Zurrfex , backed up handily by the triple-rhythm attack of Superintended Kiununtriux, Enforcer Blowmiux and Commissar Gartallax. The guitar even takes on a punky tone on “Perihelion”, but nothing stops the hyper-speed playing.

Meanwhile, front-and-center, Reptilian Deluxe is a charismatic vocalist as he barrels through lyrics ranging from sociopolitical commentary (“Politicians got me wishing I could fire every one into the depths of outer space”) to explaining their origin story as they attempt to defeat the evil Colonel Roach (“Omniplasm”). But in case all of that seems too heavy, Fullminator remind us that sometimes it’s about letting your hair down and partying hard - to that end, there is a cover of Beastie Boys’ “Fight For Your Right” which has been completely redone in Fullminator’s own style to round out the blast through time and space. It’s also a great representation of the band’s live shows, which are replete with lasers and giant robot battles in the pit.

Despite its brief runtime, Omniplasm has plenty to lap up for thrash enthusiasts. For a band who have already managed to support DRI and Gruesome only a few years into their career - all while hiding on earth from Colonel Roach - it’s an impressive set of achievements, of which this EP is just one more jewel in the thrash metal crown. Netherlands TDW Premiere Video On Metalunderground

"The Pulse" is a progressive metal song that forms the heavy centerpiece for the TDW concept album "The Days The Clock Stopped."

Band leader Tom de Wit commented

"This song is one of the heavier and more intense pieces on this album. And that is for a good reason: This song literally describes the night in which I almost lost everything and had a near-death experience due to a surgery that was not executed properly. This is reflected in the way the music twists and turns and the dissonance that takes place. The concept of this album is a first person experience through my mind and body as I was attacked by a severe bowel disease called Colitis Ulcerosa and what that did to me when I was in the hospital in my early 20s. This song represents one of my lowest points and the darkness that I experienced up close. It's a heavy, frantic ride that shifts it's dynamics through fast paced riffs, dissonant breakdowns and multiple vocal styles."

The bass is provided by Rich Gray (Aeon Zen, Annihilator) and Fabio Alessandrini (Annihilator) is heard on drums. A diverse cast of guest singers provide the choirparts and also a classical cello performed by Remco Woutersen is heard prominently. This song also features a guest guitar solo from Koen PH Romeijn (Known for his work in Heidevolk & Detonation). " More...

Imagine, being trapped inside a starship that’s set on autopilot headed into a dying sun, with no way to change course. I imagine being in that predicament, you’d question a lot of things, and see the memories of your life flash before your eyes. This is Dead Star” - Jerimy McNeil, Bassist-Vocalist DayGlo Mourning

Portugal's Places Around The Sun Debut Video

Metalunderground.com is proud to debut Portugal's Place Around The Sun video for their song "Rising Sun." The stoner/desert rock quartet had this to say about their catchy tune.

"It’s quite funny how this song is the first one on the album that brings a sense of conclusion or fulfillment, concept wise, and was also the first time the four of us were all together since quarantine started! So making this music video felt like a road trip with friends reuniting! It truly felt like the rising sun after all the pandemic stuff!

A simple and straight forward music video, always with a sprinkle of details relating to the concept and the message we tend to bring, like the song itself.

Now that we started rehearsing the album this one is for sure a very fun song to play and it’s a pretty great show opener!" More...

Sludgelord Records' Heron Premiere Video

Metalunderground is proud to premiere a video for Sludgelord Record's Heron, from Vancouver, Canada.

Heron is comprised of four veterans of the Vancouver independent music scene and mixes post-rock textures with suffocating guitar riffs, dread-inspiring percussion, and agonizing sludge-metal vocals.

The band had this to day about their new video, "Death on the Malahat."

"Death on the Malahat was written by Heron in late 2018 while touring British Columbia and Alberta. It is inspired by the near countless hours spent driving from venue to venue in Western Canada. These drives usually occur early in the morning and take on a dream-like quality due to late nights, fitful sleeps in hotel beds, and the monotony of the road.

The song title refers to a particularly treacherous stretch of Highway 1 on Vancouver Island referred to as 'The Malahat'. This section of highway twists up and down and between several mountains during its relatively short length and is notorious for extreme weather changes and fatal car crashes.

The video employs a pastiche of forests, long stretches of road, and obliterated vehicles and wraps it all in the film look and feel of a late 70s exploitation film.

The narrative of the song takes place just after a vehicle has hit a patch of black ice, broken through the guardrails, and is plunging towards the forest floor below."
