I grew up in the SF Bay Area in the 1980s listening to Black Sabbath, Rush, Iron Maiden, and the local bands (Metallica, Death Angel, Exodus, Testament, etc.). In the ensuing decades I've grown fond of black metal and some (but not all) other types of metal.
I've been going to Europe for work in the summers since 2008. While there I've seen hundreds (thousands?) of bands at the amazing metal festivals there.
