"some music was meant to stay underground..."

Interview With Drew From 7 Days Of Pain

Evansville, Indiana's 7 Days Of Pain is a local favorite from what's developed into one of the more potent metal scenes in the States. Having shared the stage with other notable Indiana metal names such as Blood Tribe and Deliver Us From Evil, 7 Days Of Pain is currently at work on their debut album. Based off the early demos from this talented bunch, they seem to find themselves in a promising position should they be able to produce something even a tad bit more polished, they just might find themselves soon getting numerous indie record deal offers, for they clearly have serious songwriting talent. I got some Q&A in with their lead vocalist, Drew.

Rocket: Are you originally from Indiana, bro?

Drew: Yeah, I was born here but have bounced around a lot.

Rocket: When did you first start singing?

Drew: Around the age of twelve or thirteen, but didn't really get serious about it until later on.

Rocket: Did you ever take lessons? Or are you just self-taught?

Drew: I was in choir in school but other than that just self taught.

Rocket: Who are some of your biggest vocal influences? Past or present.

Drew: For me it would have to be, Danzig and Graves(Misfits), Phil (Pantera) and Robert Plant (Zeppelin).

Rocket: So how did this group get formed initally?

Drew: It started out with me playing bass and Collins playing guitar and another guy singing. Long story short we hooked up with Ben and Chaz and just stuck together.

Rocket: When can we expect a debut album from 7 Days Of Pain?

Drew: Hopefully sooner than later...we're working on that right now. I would say around spring it should be ready.

Rocket: Right on. I like to have fun with this next one. What's the funniest thing that's ever happened to you while performing on the stage?

Drew: Closest thing I recall would have been playing a brand new song with no lyrics at all. Evening at the improv while my band just tried to keep straight faces. We pulled it off but man never again.

Rocket: Haha. It was a great year for metal in 2006. What album was your personal favorite?

Drew: Whew..man I would have to say Disturbed's 10,000 Fists.

Rocket: And somewhere in this crazy world, Dave Draiman just got another PDE: Public Displayed Erection. Haha. What would be the dream bill for this band?

Drew: I would say playing Indiana.. big Style RCA dome or something .... and there are so many bands we would like to jam with I can't even try, man.

Rocket: Who are some of the other local Indiana acts that have impressed you lately?

Drew: NeverLabeled and Shatter the Odds...and of course Deliver Us From Evil.

Rocket: So what are some of the upcoming shows for this band?

Drew: We have actually been on a pause for live shows. Just working on getting the album done... but can't wait to get back on stage though!

Rocket: Thanks very much for taking the time out on this with me, brother. Give a shoutout to your biggest supporters.

Drew: Huge props to Blood Tribe, Deliver Us From Evil,S.T.O. and the local E-ville music scene...May May, Charlie, Jen, The Band Brats, Brandy and all those true fans that stay on us about getting back on stage..Thanx to you all.
