Chasing Safety Talks "Nomad" Album And Video Shoots

After recently premiering a new music video from the band's upcoming "Nomad" album, we decided to get a closer look at the musical entity that is Chasing Safety.

Below is our full interview with the U.S. post hardcore outfit, which is currently gearing up to hit the stage for an Outerloop label showcase and unleash this sophomore album to the masses early next year.

xFiruath: Let's start with the “Brand New Prison” video we are premiering – what's going on in the clip and where did recording take place?

The video is a live play-through of the song while we were in the studio doing our album. It wasn't very hard to put it together. Shooting was simple we just had the video guy hang out and film while we ran through the song a few times, it was painless.

xFiruath: This new album “Nomad” is coming through Outerloop – what's your connection with the label and how did you get hooked up with them?

Yep our album drops January 6th, 2017. We have been working with Outerloop for a few years actually. It started with management then we signed with them for our first album 'Season Of The Dead.'

xFiruath: How long have these new songs been brewing, and were there any outside the 11 on the album that didn't get recorded and might show up later?

We had some basic parts and skeletons but a lot of the album we wrote together in the studio. It was a very different experience for us but we are real happy with how it happened! Nah there isn't any unreleased finished material that will surface.

xFiruath: A broken down ambulance on fire is a pretty striking visual statement in a single image. Who put together the art and what connection does it have to the music?

Josiah Moore made the album art and we fucking love it. The album's called "Nomad" and has a theme of being alone. A broken down vehicle in an open area i think supports that theme.

xFiruath: What else is happening lyrically on this release?

The theme is about being alone and how all of the important decisions you end up making you are typically left to make them on your own. These decisions pertain to your life so that's why its on you and only you.

xFiruath: Tell me about the recording process for the album.

It was at Bloodstone Recording in Greensboro NC with Kile Odell. The process went great we are really happy with how the album worked out!

xFiruath: What formats will the album be available in, an do you have a preferred method for fans to hear the music?

It will be available in both physical and digital formats. Honestly I don't care how people hear it I just want them to hear it!

xFiruath: What's been your most memorable live show recently, and is the band lining up any touring to support this album?

Recently the most memorable would be a three month stretch we did last summer. The tours were awesome and we met a lot of new fans. As of now we have nothing set in stone but we are playing in NYC st Webster Hall for an Outerloop showcase on November 17th!

xFiruath: Do you guys have an active live scene right now, and are there any bands or venues to be looking out for that are supportive of local music?

We have an active scene for sure we have some of the most loyal fans that will drive hours and never miss a show in their area. I cant really think of specific venues.

xFiruath: Anything else you'd like to add or say to the fans?

Don't forget to pre-order 'Nomad' which will be released Jan 6th 2017. There are a ton of awesome bundles available so make sure you scoop one. Look forward to seeing everyone at a show!
