All childishness aside, you guys have it bad. I mean it must be overwhelming for you all. But you know what overwhelms me?

Dude, are you really going to trust bankers again? Already?

Jul 23, 2009 9:43 PM ET #6 (permalink)

It's from the Bank of Canada. Why wouldn't I trust them to be experts on the matter?

Jul 23, 2009 9:52 PM ET #7 (permalink)

So you Canadians made it out, huh? About time... We Australians have been waiting for some company for ages!

Jul 23, 2009 9:53 PM ET #8 (permalink)

Cuz they're a F'ing BANK! The same sorts that threw Federal Reserve cash at homeless people in cardboard boxes, securitized the resulting bogus mortgage, spliced it up and sold it on the markets to the unsuspecting and lazy insurance companies, only to see it come crashing down and then get rewarded by the totally F'ed up goverments with bailouts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How many !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If these fucking politicians would enact the "Fair Tax, our problems would be over in about 6 months. That goes for our health care reform as well.

Jul 23, 2009 10:37 PM ET #13 (permalink)

Well Psythe, when the rest of the world accepts freaking sand dollars as legal tender perhaps you'll have some company :P

Jul 23, 2009 10:39 PM ET #14 (permalink)

I'm afraid to ask what the oxymoron "Fair Tax" is.

Jul 23, 2009 11:10 PM ET #15 (permalink)

It's the price of getting in to a carnival :P

Jul 24, 2009 7:39 AM ET #16 (permalink)

Without going into too much detail that will go over peoples heads, (like it did mine at first) read "The Fair Tax Book", and then read "The Fair Tax Book (The Truth)" by Neal Boortz. It will explain everything, and then you will walk around constantly pissed off about how fucked out tax code is. The numbers are simply staggering.

Actually, the bank of Canada is the main bank that regulates all the other banks. It watches them and it's because our system works that way that our banks didn't go apeshit on loans and other shit like that.

The Bank of Canada keeps them in check and if they try to stray in the wrong direction, they get taken back in the right path. This sys tem has just rpoved how efficient it is instead of letting banks regulate themselves (like in the US) and fuck thing up with greed.

Did somebody call my name?

IN: Go ahead and bask in your glory, but keep in mind that I can call my doctor today and get an appointment to see him on MONDAY! HAH!!!

Jul 24, 2009 2:00 PM ET #20 (permalink)

Blind - LMAO!!! *wipes tears from eyes*

Jul 24, 2009 5:45 PM ET #21 (permalink)

Blind: huh? I called my doctor early this week and have an appointment with him tomorrow. You're not making much sense. It only happens with some types of doctors here.

Say what you will IN. Everyone knows Canada's healthcare system is a joke. Poeple still get AIDS up there from blood transfusions for fuck sake.

Jul 24, 2009 6:47 PM ET #23 (permalink)

Yes, and people still get Hepatitis from our shit medical system (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/32127948/ns/health-infectious_diseases/) in the U.S.

All moral arguments about the "socialist" aspects of government run health care aside, I'd kill to have Canada or France's health care system (funny how no one seems to have a problem with the "socialist" police, fire department, and libraries we have). My wife's got diabetes, and it's a serious pain to pay for her insulin every month without health insurance (not to mention the absurd emergency room bill when she had ketoacidosis). And since diabetes is a "pre-existing" condition, we couldn't get coverage for it anyway. I shudder to think of what would happen if her insulin pump broke down. We don't have six grand laying around to buy a new one, and with no health insurance to help out...

You guys can rag on this statement all you want - but health care should be a right, not a status symbol.

xFiruath: That was not a system flawed to the point of allowing Blood Bourne Pathogens into the blood supply. It was an individual (and a drug addict). Big difference my friend. I sypathize with your situation, but I wouldn't trade systems with any other country on the face of the earth. I work in the industry and although it has it's ups and downs our system is still the best one going in terms of quality.

Thank-you Red. Yes, the Bank of Canada is the "watcher" bank so if anything, they should know what's going on in terms of the recession here in Canada.

BG: I haven't heard much about the AIDS thing. That's probably pretty rare.
