I come from alaska, where proper moshing still happens at every show. We did have a small group of scene kids hardcore dancing at some of the shows, but those were mostly all ages shows at crappy venues. Hatebreed was awesome at chilkoot charlies. Never have I seen 500 people mosh so hard for an entire concert. Sadly though, my body doesn't really bounce back from a hard night of moshing like it used to, so I mostly stick to the barrier, or the back with my beer.

Hardcore dancing is the dumbest thing I have ever seen, but I have to pretend I can stand it because my city is mostly hardcore pussies. I hardcore danced once, I was falling of the sidewalk.

It's just the evolution of the age group. What did they do before mosh pits?? I don't know but I am sure someone said the same thing about moshing that you are saying about this new style of dance. Do I like it? No, but if it releases energy and you are at a metal show, it's all good to me.
