Anybody else here a fan? Or for that matter, even heard of them? It's an Austin-based band but one man (Jon Crosby) writes all the music.
The music is pretty eclectic, the dumbed-down description I would give is basically rock/pop with influences from electronic and world music. It at times employs choirs, orchestras, chants, etc. Pretty neat stuff.

For their first two records, which were released in 1998 and 2000, they were on Elektra, but they were dropped after Crosby and the label couldn't reconcile their disagreements over album pricing, internet distribution, and the label wanting Vast to go in a more commercial direction. After that, they did one album with an indie label, and after more problems, they got off of that and have self-released their stuff for a cheap price (like $2 to $4) ever since. They're one of my favorite bands of all time (also one of the biggest influences on the original material I'm currently working on), and not many people seem to know them, so I thought I would share.

Here's some tunes to check out.

Let me know your thoughts, otherwise I'll feel like a dork for typing this up :)

Pretty interesting stuff man, not exactly my cup of tea but I got a few buddies who I bet would really like this group. I'll try to remember to recommend them.
