I can't be the only metalhead out there that loves classical music. I know some of you guys like to sit down and listen to Beethoven every once in a while, so here's a thread about classical, baroque, opera, all the stuff that you'd never expect metalheads to listen to.

I'll start - I can't stop listening to Schubert's "Gretchen am Spinnerade." Something about it gives me shivers.

I have had intentions of checking out some classical music, but never finding the time.
I've listened to some stuff by Niccolo Paganini and been pretty impressed.
Youtubed some interpretations of Gretchen am Spinnrade, and I see what you mean about the shivers.

I love Paganini, DJ - he was really the first rock star. He'd show up in all black to his concerts, in a carriage pulled by black horses... There were even rumors that he got his violin skills by selling his soul to the devil. Didn't hurt that his caprices are all shreddy as hell.

Now playing: Night on Bald Mountain, by Mussorgsky. Good shit.

Berlioze, DeBussey, Wagner and of course the first eccentric rock star... The mighty Mozart.

Berlioze was like the first black metal style classical composer. Claude DeBussey?... I'm thinking a glam kind of guy. Mozart was like the Led Zepplin of classical. Wagner was a speed freak. Definately a thrasher.

Great stuff there.
