Yeah Wilco I just saw that too. Absolutely horrible news. Gonna have a word with Doug about a tribute article for him. He was a huge part of making MU into a community as well as a great guy.

How art thou.....fuckers?

On another note, I have 2 more work weeks until I go on Terminal Leave, which signals the end of my Active Duty career. On to another life. 20 years. Wow.

Pup Suckers?

Congrats AP1 on the upcoming 'retirement'. I'm sure you're looking forward to spending more time with the family.
Hopefully you get a nice big tater-tot casserole for dinner to celebrate. What plans do you have afterwards? I'm about your age and nowhere close to a career change, much less retirement. Job is going well, so I can't complain too much. I know a few friends of mine who are looking for work and not having a whole lot of luck.

In my part of the world, my youngest had her appendix removed on Friday and is a bit sore from that. My oldest turned 16 last month. I still haven't figured out how I'm going to handle the car insurance when she gets her drivers license. fun times...

One step at a time DJ. I looked into it when my daughter turned 16. It would be an extra $40 a month for liability. Lil greed's grades haven't supported her getting the keys, so here we are a year later and no insurance increase.

May 13, 2015 10:30 AM ET #258 (permalink)

DJ: So far, it looks like I will be driving for Schwans. Good money, no desk, no boss. I can deal with that.

May 13, 2015 12:47 PM ET #259 (permalink)

AP1: Good to hear. There's a lot to be said for a job where you don't have to make a lot of decisions for others or answer to a bunch of supervisors. More and more, I'd like to be able to just zone out and not be trying to solve problems all the time.

BG: My kid is in the same boat grade wise. We'll see if the next school year goes better than this past one. As far as her driving, the wife and I are teaching her the driver's ed course, while waiting for her to feel ready to get her learner's permit. She's gotten a lot of wheel time unofficially, and she drives better than a lot of the assclowns out there. I just need to brush her up on the rules of the road, so she can pass the written exam.

... And we now return you to our regularly scheduled programming.

May 28, 2015 2:13 PM ET #261 (permalink)

Haven't been able to get on all week. Wouldn't load. Anybody else have the same issue?

DJ: Lil greed pulled it off: all A's and one C last semester. Now she will get a new phone. If she can keep the grades up and graduate, she will get the keys next year.

Crikey that was a weird week not being able to come on here!

Jun 2, 2015 12:42 PM ET #267 (permalink)

None too bad thanks. Looking forward to getting back down to England and then to Graspop. How's yourself?

Jun 2, 2015 2:09 PM ET #268 (permalink)

Just read back through the thread, u were in Greece and Turkey!? Very diplomatic of u playing both sides of the fence ;) where in Greece did u visit?

Been busy, became a mum to a super awesome little dude and now have little time to enjoy the metal things in life. Although, he seems to enjoy Slayer on car trips, so my parenting skills obviously aren't too shabby!

Jun 2, 2015 2:22 PM ET #269 (permalink)

Congratulations Cbella!!! Hottest metal mum ever.

Jun 2, 2015 2:27 PM ET #270 (permalink)

Thank u my favourite sex pest! That means a lot coming from the hottest metal granddaddy ;)

Jun 2, 2015 8:00 PM ET #271 (permalink)

Congratulations Cbella!

I was in Thessaloniki. The original intention was to watch a PAOK match over there but we realised we would have had missed our flight to Istanbul if we'd gone so we left out. Lots of characters in both countries and I love them both massively. Unbelievably, the weather turned out to be better back in Scotland than it was in Turkey. Such is life.

Jun 3, 2015 12:11 AM ET #272 (permalink)

Thanks Oz!

That sounds like an amazing holiday! U were gonna be brave enough to attend a PAOK game?! ;)
How r u enjoying life in Scotland?

Jun 3, 2015 3:47 PM ET #273 (permalink)

I was indeed. I want to experience football matches all over the world. Inter in Italy, Galatasaray in Turkey, Borussia Dortmund in Germany and so forth. Developed a liking for PAOK a while back and saw them play a friendly against QPR in London last August. I must have been the first QPR fan to ever bring the opposition's shirt. We went to the stadium and had a look around and the match day atmosphere was great. People going around with flags on the back of their scooters and stuff.

Scotland's alright but the nationalism is ridiculous. Every single thing has to either have the St. Andrew's cross or at least the word "Scottish" on it. Also, you're only allowed to support one party apparently because the English are responsible for everything bad in the world. So yeah, it's alright, but I'm not too settled :P

I'm guessing you chose a suitably metal name for your mini mosher like Chronos or Abaddon or Jake?

Jun 3, 2015 6:05 PM ET #274 (permalink)

Ef ets not Scottish ets crap!

Jun 4, 2015 8:45 PM ET #275 (permalink)

The scottish have a level of nationalism that makes Americans look like amateurs. I cant wait till they have space program, theyll be peeing on the US flag moon landing site in no time.

Oh, and of course the site shuts down when I wanted to start commenting on here again. I swear it had to be an inside job. Jet fuel cant melt computer servers.
