Good Morning, all. My name is Tom, and you may know me as "Tom Himself" on Swindon 105.5's "The Nightshift Rock Show", or as "that other Brit bloke that's not Diamond Oz."

As promised, I am signed up now - I use the site for my music news, mainly...and am glad to be here.

I got lazy and skipped all the other posts, as I'm watching Lord Of The Rings(2nd one)
to introduce myself to the nOObs, I'm a senior in highschool, I play drums in a annoyingly deathcore band, but I'm hopefully getting out of it soon. Going to college next year for a percussion performance major, and pretty much like all things metal. I also like reading fantasy/nonfiction books(I know, weird mix)
oh, and sorry for my absence from the boards, but I've been fuckin' buisy, what with auditions, homework, and all that shit, but now that it's spring break, I get to be my usual anti-social self and be in front of the computer all day! \m/

Tom - You sure picked a hell of a day to sign up and use the site for metal news =)

MHD101 is awesome, everyone be nice to him!

@livingdeadperson - Technically, I've been using the site for months...but I just haven't found the time to sign up. Had the Diamond One on the show last week, though...and he told me of some huge news yesterday...so I had to see it, and introduce myself too!

hey tom whats happening welcome

Apr 4, 2010 11:48 AM ET #134 (permalink)

Thanks Wilco, Patriot - Yeah, things are going slowly. Planning a contest and t's harder than I thought. It's quite humbling here - I only really came back into The Metal a few years ago, and there is always something new to find. Kudos to that.

you know, you don't have to prove anything. i don't think anyone here would care if you listened to bullet for my valentine or slipknot, we're just here because we love metal.

^I think he's just making sure it's known that he's not some emo BMTH fan.

But yeah welcome to the site and all that jizz :)

Apr 13, 2010 1:08 AM ET #144 (permalink)

Actually I read your profile about your Jackson ;)

Apr 13, 2010 1:26 AM ET #145 (permalink)

I used to own a Dinky, which had a Floyd Rose-style trem that I found to be more trouble than it was worth. So I traded it with a friend for his Ibanez... which also has a Floyd. But it does play better. Still, I'm going to be selling it soon. The day I play a guitar with a Floyd again is the day I have my own guitar tech, which is a bit doubtful. The dive-bombs and squeelie-weewoos are fun and all, but changing strings and tunings is way too much of a pain in the ass for me to deal with.

Apr 13, 2010 6:39 AM ET #146 (permalink)

Ditto man, freaking ditto. I could never get mine in tune and new strings are a pain. Besides that I actually put in a bit of time and learnt how to use it properly for a while i.e. listen to how Jason Becker plays, he uses his whammy bar on pretty much every note except with style. And then right when I'd got the hang of it I bought a Schecter with a plain bridge haha.

i'm mike, or plibt (after my favorite show Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job :]), and i've been posting here for awhile every first hour of school (they gave us 11th graders laptops for us history mwaha) for a few months. been into all things metal for so far 6 years. Slipknot was my gateway metal band, followed by the other gateway band cradle of filth, but now i'm into death metal, brutal death metal, slam, black metal, blackened death, whatever the hell aphex twin is, you guys make me nearly piss my pants atleast every other morning :P

oddly enough i have consistantly overlooked this thread and have such never introduced myself. My real name is Justin and im from the middle of fuckin nowhere in Missouri. I picked the name hanjob because i saw a fuckin funny TeeShirt on tshirthell.com that had Han Solo on it with Leia wrapped around his leg and her hand was in his pants and above the pick it said hanjob and i thought it was the shit and i just couldn't think of anything better at the time. I am currently 22 yrs old and have been listenin to metal sense i turned 12. I played tenor sax through HS and was ranked 4th best player in the state my senior year. After HS i went to college and majored in music performance and minored in music comp. I have also been playin drums sense i was 13 and piano, bass, and very lil guitar sense i turned 16.
