Yeah it was. That's why they aired The Walking Dead finale last night in his honour.

Taking the spousal unit to see George Strait this Saturday. It's his last tour too. Finally I will get to see King George!!!

AP1: So the "Fireman" is hanging up his hose eh? Massive props to GS. I'm not much into C&W, but him and Yokam are class acts.
Oz: Good on you mate. Go Rangers!

Don't know much of George Strait, but I have a weak spot for country music. What's the best songs of his to check out?

Cheers BG! Still hoping we won't get relegated this season, though with seven games left and seven points from safety, it's looking very unlikely.

oz, strait has so many great songs.

"the fireman" is one of my faves

Oz: If you truly want a good place to start with King George, seek out 50 Strait Hits. It's a little old, but it's a double album of nothing but number one hits. One thing about George is this, he's never really been inconsistent. I've always wondered if people in Europe dig country music.

There is a market for country music. Johnny Cash in particular is very popular. Willie Nelson and the like can easily sell out big venues too. There are original country artists in the UK, as well as bands who are very strongly influenced by it, such as Alabama 3 (the band that did the Sopranos theme.)

The latest Clutch album "Earth Rocker" is fucking amazing... That is all.

Apr 10, 2013 9:49 AM ET #688 (permalink)

Think I might have to try to give Clutch a serious go. Been knowing about them since the mid 90's, but never really gave them a chance. If I like Red Fang, will I like Clutch?

Apr 10, 2013 12:20 PM ET #689 (permalink)

I'd say so. Yes. I like Clutch, but I've never been crazy about them.

Apr 10, 2013 4:24 PM ET #690 (permalink)

AP1: start with their album BLAST TYRANT!!!!!

Apr 10, 2013 6:04 PM ET #691 (permalink)

Good advice Branded. IMO Blast Tyrant and Earth Rocker are their best to date.

Wilson, Warbeast and GWAR was off the hook.

Sup fuckers? I was on the fence about seeing Clutch, but they didn't make the cut. I've never been a big fan and they are local even.

What I want to know is who I can blame for never hearing the Dropkick Murphys. Just heard a song on an NHL game video (thanks Oz) and checked out their latest stuff and I love it. It definitely improved my mood today (shit Monday up til then).

Apr 15, 2013 3:27 PM ET #696 (permalink)

You're welcome. Don't know who you can blame, I'm sure I've mentioned them before. I saw them supporting The Pogues in Birmingham in 2005 and they were absolutely fantastic.

Not sure how you missed their Christmas song DB, its pretty fucking hilarious.

I got godlike shitfaced last night. Good times.

There are a couple Clutch songs that are kinda decent in my opinion, like "Spacegrass" and "Elephant Riders". Don't know if anyone has checked into the metalcore scene here lately but a melodic metalcore band by the name Sylosis has a nice sounding track called "Dystopia".
