This is a list that changes every week for me. Tool are pretty staple, I love Hedpe (but get why most don't), Led Zeppelin are my favourite this week, Pink Floyd and Dire Straits are always up there, Porcupine Tree never fail to impress me... Particularly enjoying At The Gates this week, too. I'm sorry, but there really is no way I could give you a stable list of favourite bands that short :)

Oh, wow, The Cure just re-became my favourite band. This happens every once in a while. Christ I love them, they suit my mood so beautifully :)

Oct 14, 2009 11:02 AM ET #5 (permalink)

Yeah, mine changes every few days. Right now I guess I'd say it's Sepultura, Gorguts, and Exodus.

Tool, Porcupine Tree, Meshugg-Opeth

I know, I cheated, but damn that 3rd one is hard to pin down. Psythe, I haven't posted a thread about Porcupine Tree's "The Incident" since it's not exactly Metal, but what are your thoughts? I probably listened to it str8 through 10 times the first week. So much good, i don't know where to start. "I drive the hearse" jumped out at me. Must have been one hell of a car crash.

Pink Floyd, Slayer, Opeth!

Oct 14, 2009 2:03 PM ET #8 (permalink)

Cozen- Yeah man, brilliant hey! I swear those guys could release an album of fart tracks and it would be sonic genius, they are inexplicably incredible :)

Edit: Oh, and Opeth, Meshuggah and Machine Head are always going to be strong contenders for top 3 of any given week.

i always cheat on this question by saying my favorite artists who have multiple bands so really its like 20 once ya count all the solo/side projects etc... no real specific order to list they are all interchangeable at any moment

First: Devin Townsend (SYL, Steve Vai, all his other solo stuff under different names)
Second: Dan Swanö (Edge Of Sanity, Godgory, Godsend, Karaboudjan, Nightingale, Panthymonium, Bloodbath)
Third: Anders Nyström ( Katatonia, Bewitched, Bloodbath, Diabolical Masquerade)

This past month or so I've been all about Five Finger Death Punch. War is the Answer is definantly reminiscent of Vulgar Display of Power, gotta love that "head-butt your mother in the face" attitude.

Of all time, though, I've got to give it up to Slayer, Metallica, and Godsmack.
