Hello everyone, Metalunderground writer/reviewer The_Avant_Garde (a.k.a Cody B)
here with a first time forum post. Alot of the stuff I do here on the site seems to get
some views so I want to start communicating with the people that support this site
and help to make it the best metal zine on the web today.

Im asking this because a good friend of mine and I recently got into an extremely heated
argument over thrash metal, a genre im not to familiar with, and battled over what our top essential
songs of the genre were. Im not going to post my top 5 yet, although I have it memorized,
because im sure it will surely cause up a stir here as well! :) So what are youre top 5,
I want to see what all of you Metalunderground faithful have to say!

2."Raining Blood"- You know who it's by.
3."Angel of Death"- Slayer
4."Rust In Peace...Polaris"-Megadeth

for the record, I do not consider The Haunted to be a thrash band...just that particular song

Oct 18, 2010 4:08 AM ET #10 (permalink)

Wouldn't call "The Salaminizer" a thrash song, great track though. "Immortal Corrupter", now that's a thrashy GWAR song.

Oct 18, 2010 11:51 AM ET #11 (permalink)

No particular order and just going based on my personal opinion on the level of a songs value to the overall metal community

The Number of the Beast/The Trooper-Iron Maiden
Raining Blood/Angel of Death-Slayer
Painkiller-Judas Priest

Iron Maiden thrash?

Oct 19, 2010 2:33 AM ET #13 (permalink)

They have some thrash oriented songs I lump them into the same group as the rest of the 80s thrash bands just because i view them all as collective old school metal. That's probably wrong, but I'm not a man of genres so..yeah. At least I didn't list the haunted :P

Oct 19, 2010 11:48 AM ET #14 (permalink)

Well The Haunted are a lot more thrash than Iron Maiden dude so maybe you should've mentioned them. Thrash oriented? Yeah sure dude......................................................

Oct 19, 2010 11:54 AM ET #15 (permalink)

don't hold it against me haha if its old i lump it into the same group

Just 5? But that means one from each of the big four and then one more? No other bands in thrash matter though, so that's pointless. :P

2: Megadave- Holy wars...the badass song
3: Warbringer- Total War (listen to this song and TRY not to feel badass)
4: Rumpilstiltskin Grinder- Nothing Defeats the Skull
5: Tie: Kreator- Hordes of Chaos / Metallica- Master of puppets

Super deluxe bonus round!
