I was on youtube today and i was listening to a lamb of god drum cover and every one i clicked on seemed to have the same descussion on it....i.e. Joey vs Chris. So i desided to see what true metal heads think hence my starting of this topic. Im my opinion i would have to go with Chris, not because i like LoG more but because i think he plays with more musical feel and writes to be an aditional part to the song not just an attention whore like Joey....joey is a fantastic drummer but i think that his playing is more self-centered and not as tasteful. anyway what do u all think?

Joey is surprisingly talented for a dude that plays in Slipknot. That said, Lamb of God is full of talented guys so it's harder for any one dude to stand out as being really good...

I'm picking Adler just for having the sense NOT to be in a project with Corey Taylor.

Not a fan of either band but I've seen Chris Adler play live and he's pretty damn good.

Lol.

Saw them both at Graspop. Both great drummers that play in overrated bands. Can't really say much more really.

Psythe: "I'm picking Adler just for having the sense NOT to be in a project with Corey Taylor." = WIN!

i wouldn't say that LoG is overrated at all. They are all very talented and its not like they sold out or anything so i really dono why everyone is suddenly bashin on em. Is it cuz more and more ppl are starting to like em? Cuz it seems to me that with most metalheads i kno that if a band starts gettin bigger that they suddenly become less metal or something. And if that is the case then its pretty fuckin retarded.

"Is it cuz more and more ppl are starting to like em?" - Nope, just because of the music. Slayer, Judas Priest etc. they're big bands but people like them right?

must say joey
have to say did see him live now a couple of times and live he is awsome
he dont belong in slipknot they say but where does he belong than?

Got nothing to do with popularity Hanjob. I've always thought Lamb Of God were shite if I'm honest. Talented musicians no doubt, but the music itself is really boring to me. Just can't get into it and I get sick of people saying how amazing they are when all I hear is an average run of the mill metal band. People calling them the next Pantera need a slap too.

Nov 7, 2009 1:43 PM ET #11 (permalink)

They're both average drummers if you ask me. Throw in Hellhammer, Nick Barker, George Kollias (sp?), Pete Sandoval, Meshuggah's drummer (his name escapes me at the moment), and a few others, then you've got a real debate.

On the subject of Lamb of God, I don't know. I like them, but they're not a favorite of mine by any means. Nor are they by any means "the next Pantera."

Pete Sandoval & Gene Hoglan = Drum Lords

Nov 7, 2009 3:57 PM ET #13 (permalink)

John Otto FTW.

To me, if you've been touted as "the next" Pantera/Metallica/Slayer, then chances are your just copying those bands and are doomed to be a shadow.

Take it to the Matthew's bridge.

^LMFAO.

Coupled with the avatar, that has to be, hands down, the funniest post ever made on this site.

To me though i do feel like Lamb of God has captured the intensity and "feel" that Pantera had so i can see y ppl say that. but to me they have always been Lamb of God and not Pantera prt 2.

This duel can only be settled in a live performance.

Nov 13, 2009 1:08 AM ET #19 (permalink)

Boooring! Both of them is just avarage drummers there are loads of better drummers out there who doesn't get the credit for their abilities and you push two guys from copycat bands. Shame on you!

Nov 15, 2009 8:24 PM ET #20 (permalink)

Shredder: Yes, Gene Hoglan! How could I have forgotten him??

Nov 16, 2009 9:18 AM ET #21 (permalink)

Mike Smith anyone? That guy's immense!

Nov 16, 2009 3:06 PM ET #22 (permalink)

As talented as these two guys are I would just like to say two words..... Danny Carrey.

Nov 16, 2009 6:35 PM ET #23 (permalink)

Joey only because He has played a multiude of differnt bands Slaipknot, Anal blast, ministey, Satyricon. Hell he even produced 3 inches of blood. He is talented but I dont know why he is in slipknot.

Nov 16, 2009 7:27 PM ET #24 (permalink)

Because he fits their style Freak. Just like Chris fits with LOG. I agree though, there are way better drummers out there.

Nov 16, 2009 11:48 PM ET #25 (permalink)

Lord Marco(Brain Drill) Wins every drum contest ever. Only George Kolias form Nile and Tomas Haake from Meshuggah stand a chance against that mighty titan.

My favorites besides Marco include Gene Hoglan and Mr. Duplantier form Gojira.

Chris Adler is better than Joey. More complex, and faster, and catchier, and...oh yeah, He wears an epic beard instead of a stupid mask.

Yeah, I know it's a fallacious argument, with the beard and all, but I dont care.
