Pyrrhon has parted ways with founding drummer Alex Cohen, who has been replaced by new blood Steve Schwegler.
Vocalist Doug Moore and Schwegler also have a death/black metal band called Seputus that goes all the way back to 2005. Long spells of inactivity in recent years with that band will come to an end with a brand new Seputus album, fully written by Schwegler. The lineup for that group now includes Pyrrhon bassist Erik Malave (Imperial Triumphant, Artificial Brain live), uniting 3/4 of the current Pyrrhon lineup.
In other Pyrrhon news, the CD version of latest album "Growth Without End" is out now on Selfmadegod Records. More...
New York City-based experimental death metal quartet Pyrrhon will release a CD version of latest work, the "Growth Without End" mini-album, through Selfmadegod Records in October, following its initial vinyl vinyl version released earlier this year by Handshake Inc.
The five-song "Growth Without End" was recorded and mixed by Ryan Jones, mastered by Colin Marston, and is a total mindfuck, merging bouts of punishing death, super-evil noise rock, twisted math, and chaotic and menacing grind. Experience the chaos with "Cancer Mantra" below.
"Growth Without End" is set for October 1, 2015 release date on CD. Stand by for preorders. PYRRHON has also booked a new hometown show: More...

Pyrrhon has checked in with the following announcement about departing Relapse Records and gearing up to release an EP:
"The bad news is that Relapse Records have terminated their contract with Pyrrhon and will not be working on our next LP.
"The given reason for their decision was that 'The Mother of Virtues' has not proven commercially successful, which will surely come as a major shock to anyone who’s heard it. Our split with Relapse will not affect our upcoming European tour plans next month.
"The good news: we will release 'Growth Without End,' a new EP, on June 2nd, 2015. That’s the cover art you’re looking at. Written and recorded in the aftermath of the TMoV sessions, and handled by the same team (Ryan Jones on tracking/mixing; Colin Marston on mastering; Caroline Harrison on art/layout), it is our fastest, scabbiest material to date. 'Growth Without End' will come out on vinyl & digital via Handshake Inc., whom you may know through their great work with the likes of Gridlink, Rwake, Sulaco, and Couch Slut.
"We will be joining another Handshake band for a limited number of out-of-town live appearances in support of the EP before commencing work on our next batch of material. Dates & details TBA."
The EP's track listing is:
1. Cancer Mantra
2. Forget Yourself
3. The Mass
4. Viral Content

SXSW can be an overwhelming endeavor. From word-of-mouth parties and secret performances to unofficial day shows that the festival doesn't promote, planning takes more than cursory glances. After last year's exhaustive outing, I learned a lesson: keep it simple (stupid) and don't over plan. One best experiences South By Southwest by staying in a downtown hotel and taking pedicabs (or real car cabs depending on the extent of travel). For only $2 a day, a bus is the way to go for Austinites, as long as they're not staying past midnight. More...
With the official unleashing of Pyrrhon's "The Mother Of Virtues" now just two weeks away, today Vice/Noisey is waging war on the ears of the willing with "Invisible Injury."
An exploratory mind fuck of broken chords, warring vocal tirades, and hurt feelings, the track encompasses pure evil. Check it out below.

The experimental death metal perpetrators in New York City's Pyrrhon (pronounced peer-on) are pleased to soil ears with the title track from their forthcoming new long player, "The Mother Of Virtues," due out April 1st. Give it a listen below, courtesy of MetalSucks.net.
Comments vocalist Doug Moore of the title track: "I've seen some people say that we aren't 'really' a death metal band, and this song is pretty good evidence in favor of that claim. It's also one of the more ambitious songs we've ever recorded, structurally speaking. Good luck."
The album was recorded by Ryan Jones (Today Is The Day, Mutilation Rites) and mastered by Colin Marston (Gorguts, Krallice). More...
New York City progressive death metal collective and recent Relapse signees, Pyrrhon (pronounced peer-on), emerge from the urban decay with a nightmarish offering of physically and psychologically mauling extreme metal.
Titled "The Mother Of Virtues," the band's sophomore full-length is a mind-bending fusion of clanging death metal, surreal psychedelia, dark jazz rhythms, and delirious storytelling. The album was recorded with Ryan Jones (Today Is The Day, Mutilation Rites) and mastered by Colin Marston (Gorguts, Krallice). The album is due out April 1st in North America and March 31st worldwide.
Elaborates vocalist Doug Moore: "We focused on capturing an organic, spontaneous sound on this album. Consequently, we tracked most of the album live; most of its quieter moments and solo breaks are partially or entirely improvised. We like to let the chips fall where they may."
Sear your ears with teaser track "Balkanized," currently streaming in the player below. The album's full track listing is as follows:
1. The Oracle of Nassau
2. White Flag
3. Sleeper Agent

Relapse Records is extremely proud to announce the signing of New York City avant-garde, technical death metal quartet Pyrrhon (pronounced "peer-on").
Formed in 2008, Pyrrhon (Dylan DiLella - guitar, Erik Malave - bass, Alex Cohen - drums, Doug Moore - vocals) has released one EP ("Fever Kingdoms" - 2010) and one LP ("An Excellent Servant But a Terrible Master" - 2011, available for streaming below) via The Path Less Traveled Records and Selfmadegod Records respectively.
Relapse will release the band's upcoming sophomore album titled "The Mother of Virtues" in early 2014. The label comments:
"A nightmarish blend of clanging death metal with surreal psychedelic elements, jazz rhythms, and delirious storytelling, The Mother of Virtues was tracked and mixed by Ryan Jones (Today is the Day, Mutilation Rites, Wetnurse) at Saint Vitus Bar and The Sound City, Brooklyn in May and June 2013. The record was then mastered by Colin Marston (Krallice, Gorguts) at The Thousand Caves Studios, Brooklyn, in August 2013. More album details will be revealed shortly."
Vocalist Doug Moore also commented on the signing: "When I was 15, I bought a copy of Relapse's Contaminated 5.0 sampler CD. Through it, I encountered Suffocation, Neurosis, Pig Destroyer, Human Remains, and countless other great bands for the first time. We are thrilled and honored to work with a label whose output has done so much to drive metal forward, and which has meant so much to all four of us over the years." More...
Pyrrhon has checked in with the following announcement about inking a deal with Relapse:
"We said that there'd be news, and here it is: Pyrrhon has signed to Relapse Records. We are, as you might guess, extremely excited. Our new album will come out on a variety of formats in early 2014, and we'll likely tour in support of it.
"Thanks to all of you for your support over these past five years, and we look forward to seeing a great deal more of you in the future."
