Thomas Giles, the solo project from Between the Buried and Me front man Tommy Rogers, has unveiled a brand new track from his forthcoming album, "Modern Noise."
Track #4 from the record, "I Appear Disappear," is streaming below, thanks to GuitarWorld.com. The track also features a guitar solo from Between the Buried and Me guitarist Paul Waggoner.
When asked about the lyrical content of the song, Tommy Rogers simply replied: "It's a story about a man who has another head attached to his… he decides to kill both of them."
You can also hear the previously posted song "Mutilated World" at this location. Tommy Roger explains the album's title and music:
"This record was an outcome of me creating songs while not wanting to over evaluate the music. I wanted to record things that naturally came to me and because of this, the record feels like an accurate extension of myself. I took a more rock approach and really focused on writing simple yet dynamic songs. Lyrically, I feel it's a great mix of storytelling and personal experience. 'Modern Noise' is basically just saying this is my current noise on the earth. We all are here for a short amount of time and the noise we make is our memory." More...
Between the Buried and Me vocalist/keyboardist Tommy Rogers is set to release his second solo album on Metal Blade Records.
The new album, which will again be released under the Thomas Giles moniker, is entitled “Modern Noise.” You can hear the new song "Mutilated World" below, and pre-orders are now available at this location. The following press release was also issued about the album:
"Testing the limits of what he can do naturally with his voice, Rogers' strikingly beautiful falsetto and dynamic range conjures tales of anxiety, collapse, end-times and strength against swelling, heart-lifting arrangements and pristine backdrops of ambient loops, digital burbles, analog hiss and woozy drones. Exploring combinations of the outré genres of both post-rock and electronic, the music's emotionally resonant yet textural sounds draw reference to artists such as Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, the Verve, Beck, Oasis and Spiritualized, balancing both rock and electronic impulses.
"Though Rogers is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist (he recorded most everything himself on the previous album), for this new album he enlisted the talents of a former band mate. Fans will surely recognize percussionist Will Goodyear, who performed drums on 'Modern Noise.' Goodyear, who is currently in Grohg, previously played with Tommy on the self-titled Between the Buried and Me album, as well as their previous band, Prayer for Cleansing. The two have a natural synergy, and that was only enhanced while working with longtime Between the Buried and Me producer, Jamie King, at The Basement Studios in North Carolina." More...
Thomas Giles (Between The Buried and Me) will release a new album this fall, which will be the follow up to 2011's prop-pop experiment "Pulse" (reviewed here).
The new album, "Modern Noise," is being tracked with Jamie King at The Basement Studios, with former Between the Buried and Me drummer Will Goodyear handling drum tracking. The release will expand upon what Alternative Press called "post-rock mastery" in their review for "Pulse."
Thomas Giles comments: "I'm very happy announce that I'm back recording another record with Jamie King. Can't explain how excited I am about this material. We are about 60% done and it's sounding above and beyond. Drummer Will Goodyear is a perfect addition to the session and has really helped bring these songs to life. I'm anxiously awaiting for the world to hear this Modern Noise."

Thomas Giles - the solo project from Between The Buried and Me's Tommy Giles Rogers - is now working on a new album and follow-up to 2010's "Pulse" (reviewed here). The project's mastermind comments:
"Hello people of the Earth. This is Tommy and I wanted to give you an update on some projects of mine.
"I’m currently writing another Thomas Giles record. The record will be called Modern Noise and will be out later this year on Metal Blade Records. I'll be in the studio with Jamie King in July and his magic will be present as always. I am also getting BTBAM’s first drummer, Will Goodyear to play drums on the record. He is a very talented man and I can't wait to see what he adds to the songs.
"I have also finished my first score for a movie titled Dutch Book and it will be released hopefully by the end of the year. More updates soon on that.
"I will not bombard BTBAM’s sites with news, so if you want to keep up with everything please like my Facebook page.
"Tour is going great and the band and myself are very excited to film our new DVD for all of you later this month. See you on the stage/in your ears." More...
London progressive metallers The Safety Fire are excited to announce the release of their forthcoming second album, "Mouth Of Swords," on September 3rd in North America via InsideOut Music.
The band has been hard at work on the album for the past few months, and vocalist Sean McWeeney had this to say about the completion of the record: "Since our first album we've all concentrated more on having awesome haircuts and facial hair. Does that go some way to explaining why 'Mouth of Swords' is shit hot? Some may suggest so. But all I know is I'm on it and that's enough for most people. This album is pure gold, and will be priced accordingly."
Guitarist and producer Derya "Dez" Nagle had this to add about the release announcement and album recording: "I must have said 'there is no topping Winger's 1988 classic 'Winger' on a daily basis during the recording process. I've never been wrong about anything in my whole life, so it was a rather humbling experience to realize that what we were creating was in fact better than Winger's 1988 classic, 'Winger.' I felt like a bozo deluxe. After awhile I came to accept that we had created the best album of all time, ever, in the history of known time. The burden of holding such musical gold was too much for us to handle and the band agreed to release it through InsideOut Music, on September 3rd. I'd like to think the music can speak for itself, but music can't speak, so I'll speak on its behalf. Hello. I hope you enjoy me." More...

"Creating this album was a very unique experience for me," comments Rogers. "I honestly never thought I would get a lot of this music recorded. This record was a way for me to step back, focus on simplified song structures and really build off of melodies. Even though I love fucking my throat up by screaming, it was very nice to sit back and chill out a bit. I named the record 'Pulse' because it is a collection of thoughts and experiences I've had through the years. It's a very personal record and I hope the songs help people evaluate their lives and make the best of their time here. Find your pulse.
"I hope everyone enjoys this record, as I feel there is something for everyone on it. And don't you all worry; BTBAM is writing new material as I type. We have a very busy year 2011 planned which includes lots of new music and touring. Stay tuned."
