Montreal based death metallers Neuraxis have finished writing for their upcoming album. The band has now offered a final update before entering the Wildsound Studio next week with producer Chris Donaldson to start the recording process for the upcoming 6th studio album.
Vocalist Alex Leblanc comments: “Time for an update... First of all, the writing is finished. We decided to add an extra song and I love it. A brutal, in-your-face song that’s going to surprise a lot of people. Overall this album has a much darker and twisted feeling that will bring shivers down your spines. Rob really outdid himself writing the new album. His ideas are sick, his riffing is more intense than ever and his songwriting is just better overall. I think this album is really going to make him shine and put him among one of the best in his genre.
"Tiger (Oli Beaudoin) is preparing himself like a madman. He's doing cardio, weight training, physiotherapy and practicing the songs every day, sometimes even twice a day. I have never seen a drummer being so intense towards his preparation for a studio session. He really came up with sick beats for the new album, really bringing the intensity of the songs up a notch.
"Fetus (Oli Pinard) is bringing the bass to a whole new level in this band. He's very skilled and understands exactly what he has to do, putting just the right amount to complement the guitar work while throwing a few curve balls here and there. Bass enthusiasts will love what he's doing on our new record. More...
Montreal-based death metallers Neuraxis will enter Wildsound Studio on June 3rd with producer Chris Donaldson to begin recording their sixth album for a fall release through Prosthetic Records. Commented vocalist Alex Leblanc:
"Chris is an excellent producer. He's been a friend of mine for years, played in some bands with him and already worked with him in the studio on some other projects. He's also the most easy going guy around. Working with him is going to be a blast for sure. We are almost done with the writing process for the new album; maybe one or two more songs to go. It's going to be a powerful album. Dark, vicious, catchy, technical, melodic; everything you can expect from a Neuraxis album with some unexpected twists. We have two more shows this weekend, then we will rehearse the new songs for a month, putting the final touches and get ready to shred in the studio. It's going to be a blast...We can't wait to play the new songs on the road for you guys."
The band's last shows before hitting Wildsound Studio are:
4/23 - Rimouski, QC @ Cactus
4/24 - Quebec, QC @ L'Agitee

Montreal's Augury has checked in with the following update:
"After eight years of collaboration, we are sad to announce that we had to part way with our bass player Dominic 'Forest' Lapointe. We keep in mind his outstanding musical input and volcanic stage presence, and thank him for helping to shape the sound of Augury.
"But the show must go on and we are actually starting The American Defloration tour with The Black Dahlia Murder, Obscura and Hatesphere, with a very special rhythm section featuring Quebec City jazz player Christian Pacaud (MAG Project) on bass, and our long-time friend Tommy McKinnon (formerly of Neuraxis) behind the drum kit. With such great personnel on board, we are eager to give American ears a good scrub once again!"

In other news, NEURAXIS are still hard at work on their upcoming album. Commented singer Alex Leblanc:
"It's coming along really well. We are now past the half-way point of the writing. Olivier Beaudoin, our new drummer, is tracking demos, which is speeding up the process a lot. I am going to lay down vocals for those this weekend. My first time recording since i stopped smoking so it should be interesting. Olivier Pinard has already layed three bass tracks and he's just a pure prodigy. Rob is writing his best material ever. Dark, epic and vicious. We can't wait to release this beast."

The chemistry with the new guys is awesome. They really bring tons of energy to the band. Both of them are bringing fresh ideas to the mix and are really creative. The writing is going a lot faster than we expected so fans won't have to wait a long time to hear it. The new material sounds phenomenal. Vicious, dark and epic are the words that come to mind when you listen to the new songs. Expect a brand new beast from this one. You guys won't believe it!"

Neuraxis has announced they are parting ways with drummer Tommy Mckinnon and bassist Yan Thiel.
Guitarist Rob Milley comments: "The time has come again for us to refresh the Neuraxis family as we are now seeking a new drummer and bassist. Nothing really juicy to tell. For Tommy, his priorities began to differ from ours while on the road until it became clear to us that he was no longer enjoying the touring lifestyle. He wishes to go back to school to complete his education. As for Yan its just been a case of him deciding to further his working career and he can no longer dedicate himself to the band. This has been going on for many years now and its time for us to have a full-time bassist on board. Both of them will continue playing in other musical projects. We thank our metal brothers for all the good times we had together and wish them the best for the future. Tommy and Yan will be fulfilling all our summer shows already booked ending with a fitting show in Montreal at the Club Soda on Sept 11th 2009.
"With that being said, we are excited to get some new blood in the band.
