Ex-Rings of Saturn Guitarist Slams Lucas Mann

Ex-Rings of Saturn Guitarist Joel Omans outlines in a vitriolic rant on his Facebook timeline the real reasons why he left the band after their recent tour:

"So there's been quite a bit of vagueness to the real reason why I quit Rings of Saturn and It's been eating away at me keeping it to myself so here it goes. The deciding factor in me leaving the band was Lucas. I had enough of biting my tongue and going along for the ride. When I first joined the band we got along great and had the same common goals as musicians but that changed more and more over the years. To summarize he simply doesn't care about playing guitar or being a musician anymore. Word for word he told me "I don't give a shit about playing guitar or getting better at guitar, I just want to write music and get the band as big as possible in the shortest amount of time." So with that kind of attitude it hindered the band from playing any of the new songs from Lugal Ki En that we were suppose to be playing live for the last 6 months. Ian, Aaron, and myself were all capable of playing the new songs we prepared for the set but we had to make up excuses such as "the label won't let us play songs until the music video is out or we didn't have time to practice as a band so we aren't playing any songs on the album release tour." And his reason for not learning the songs was that he was too busy managing the band. I was also told to get off his back for it since he "Does more in life in general than I do." All in all what it comes down to is Lucas Mann is a hack of a musician and I will never work with him ever again. He stresses the band into recording songs note by note, releases them, doesn't learn them and then makes as much money as he can from the merch while sitting in the comfort of his parents' house. On top of that he is a self centered asshole to his band mates and fans which is not acceptable to me in anyway. I admit he is very smart with managing and promoting a band. Maybe he'd do better helping other bands since he doesn't have the desire to play instruments himself. I've learned a lot from being in ROS and met some amazing people but Ive had enough of the bullshit. I'm not going to sacrifice time with my family, my musicianship, or my integrity for some childish wanna be musician. I couldn't be happier with my choice to leave. I now have time with the people I care about and I've regained that burning passion for my instrument. Thanks to all who have supported the band, I'm excited to start releasing albums that are REAL all the way through for the remaining listeners of mine to enjoy. No longer will I stand for someone to record bullshit parts with my music and not even learn it. Fuck that."

Rings Of Saturn Releases 3D Video

Bay Area tech-death outfit Rings Of Saturn has unveiled the initial single from upcoming third full-length album, "Lugal Ki En," through a conceptual 3-D video for the album's opening track, "Senseless Massacre." Check it out below, thanks to Metal Injection.

The newly constructed "Senseless Massacre" video was directed and edited by Alex T. Reinhard and shot and produced by Brooke Brennan, both of Brutal Productions, and features visual effects courtesy of Harsh Wayne Enterprises.

The video was also constructed with 3-D viewing enabled via Youtube player settings, though 3-D glasses are required to delve into the other dimension full-on. Comments founding guitarist Lucas Mann of the track:

"'Senseless Massacre' is the first debut single off of Rings Of Saturn's new album, Lugal Ki En, on Unique Leader Records. The music video depicts the band as aliens (full-black eyes) performing on alien-like instruments (Etherial Guitars) with their vocalist, Ian Bearer, being abducted and tortured in extraterrestrial machinery. After being tortured and experimented on, his blood turns blue at the end of the video showing that he has transformed and is no longer human. This conveys the idea that aliens could already be living along side us without the general population being aware of it."

"Lugal Ki En" will see worldwide impact via Unique Leader Records this October, in North America on the 14th and in Europe on the 17th. More...

Rings Of Saturn Reveals New Album Info

Bay Area aliencore outfit Rings of Saturn will unleash a forthcoming new full-length this October 14th via Unique Leader Records.

Titled "Lugal Ki En," the twelve-track offering was produced by Brette Ciamarra at Studio 344 (Kamikabe, Those Who Fear, Trophies et al) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and features the drum prowess of Black Tongue/Infant Annihilator basher Aaron Kitcher, guest solo work by Day Of Reckoning guitarist Rusty Cooley, and custom artwork by Mark Cooper of Mind Rape Art, who crafted the band’s seminal "Dingir" cover.

Comments guitarist Lucas Mann of the album concept, “The concept of the album in a nutshell is that long after the Aliens conquer humanity, they evolve to a point where they transcend space, time and reality to take their conquest into the realm of the gods where they wage war on angels and demons. The album title Lugal Ki En translates from ancient Sumerian cuneiform to mean ‘King Of The Earthlings, Lord Of The Cosmic World.’ The Sumerian cuneiform is visible behind the English pronunciation of the album title.”

The track listing will be as follows:

1. Senseless Massacre
2. Desolate Paradise
3. Lalassu Xul
4. Infused (Feat. Rusty Cooley)
5. Fractal Intake

7. Beckon
8. Godless Times

Rings Of Saturn Splits With Drummer

Rings of Saturn has checked in with the following announcement about parting ways with the band's drummer and working on a new album:

"Our drummer, Jesse Beahler, has made the decision to leave Rings of Saturn in order to put all his concentration into his other band Black Crown Initiate. It was awesome touring with him, and we wish him the best of luck in his future musical endeavors!

"Despite this unfortunate news, we also want to announce that we are officially working on a new record! Because of our drum situation, Aaron Kitcher from Black Tongue and Infant Annihilator has agreed to do the drums on our 3rd album. We are SUPER excited about this and feel that his input will really blow peoples minds on our new material.

"Aaron will not be joining the band because he is already committed to two very active bands. So, we ARE looking for a touring drummer who can play material from Embryonic Anomaly, Dingir, and will be down to learn songs from the new record so we can hit the road on tours to support the upcoming release.

"If you are an epic drummer who is up for this, send some play through videos our way!"

Rings Of Saturn Streaming Full New Album

Rings of Saturn has posted the full "Dingir" album online for streaming, which can be heard in the player below, and the band also commented:

"Here is the official album version of Dingir streamed in high quality. There are many reasons as to why we decided to stream our new album in its entirety before its scheduled release date. One big reason is because we are dealing with legal issues right now which unfortunately WILL push back the release date of Dingir from Nov. 20th to Feb. 5th.

"The second reason is that a very poor quality, unfinished, and unmastered, pre-production version of our album went viral across many metal blog spots, torrent sites, and youtube this morning. It is unclear whether the original poster thought that the pre-production version of the album was the actual album, or if the original poster leaked it maliciously. In any case, If you guys are going to listen to a leaked version of our album, we would much rather you listen and jam out to the ACTUAL high quality finished album, rather than a low quality unfinished product. If you DID happen to upload the pre pro version to your Youtube channel (chances are that you did since our video is the first video of the actual finished album) we ask that you please take it down now that the actual album is up streaming because we don't want to confuse people.

"The third reason is that we know you are all tired of waiting for this, we are also EQUALLY tired of waiting, and we know that our true fans will continue to support the band, pre order our album, buy our merch, and come out to our shows. If you ARE in fact a true fan of Rings of Saturn, or you like what you are hearing, or you want to see us come to your town our city, then you will share this video EVERYWHERE, you will show all of your friends, and you will pre order and actually still buy our album when it does come out on Feb. 5th because a band's first week album sales dictate what tours the band gets on, what slots they get, and where they are able to go.

"If you want to see us play in Europe, or Australia, or come back to Canada, or back to your state, then you will pre order Dingir or pick up your copy within the first week of its release. We are only able to keep doing this because of your guys support. We will keep everyone posted on pre-orders and new merch from this page. Again the new release date for Dingir is Feb. 5th and remember, SHARE THIS VIDEO and Enjoy!" More...
