All That Remains To Guest On NJ SOTU 2007 Stop
Massachusetts' ALL THAT REMAINS has been confirmed as a special guest for the July 14 Sounds of the Underground show at Sayreville, N.J.'s Starland Ballroom, following completion of the band's current tour supporting Bullet For My Valentine, a handful of one-off headlining shows, and a quick Canadian run with Protest The Hero. "We're wicked excited to be a part of this year's Sounds Of The Underground at the Starland Ballroom," frontman Phil Labonte says. "We were proud to be a part of the first US and European Sounds, opening up, so it's a huge honor to be a special guest in Jersey. The show is gonna rule - FUCKING TESTAMENT!!! - and it's a great excuse to hang with our friends in the The Acacia Strain, Shadows Fall, Every Time I Die, Chimaira, GWAR and so many others. Get your tickets early and GET INTO IT!" Tickets can be purchased here.
Recently returning from a European headlining run with Textures and Misery Signals, ALL THAT REMAINS is already back on the road in North America, continuing to support the band's latest effort, 'The Fall of Ideals,' which saw a summer 2006 release and has since yielded the band critical praise and spots on Ozzfest 2006, Sounds of the Underground Europe, as well as tours alongside the likes of DragonForce, Killswitch Engage, and a hugely successful headlining tour earlier this year.
The band's latest video, for the track "The Air That I Breathe," will once again be aired on this week's edition of MTV2's Headbanger's Ball. Check your local listings for time and channel. The Darren Doane-directed clip can be seen online here, while behind the scenes footage from the video shoot can be viewed here.

Cristina Scabbia Talks About Touring the US
LiveDaily.com reports: For Lacuna Coil's Cristina Scabbia, it is not difficult to be a female hard-rock singer in a male-dominated world. She counts on professionalism and respect to earn fans.
"As long as you believe in yourself, you can always do it," said Scabbia, who shares vocal duties in the Milan, Italy-based band with male Andrea Ferro.
"I always thought if you give respect to people, you always get the same respect back. Of course, if you are expecting to be just the female in the band and then it's easy to make it just because of that---you are wrong. You're absolutely wrong. You have to be able to do your job. You have to be able to have balls. But I don't think it's a question of being a woman or a man. It's a question of having the right attitude."
Lacuna Coil, which currently is in the midst of the Jagermeister Music Tour with Stone Sour, is one of the few European hard-rock bands to cross the ocean and make a name for itself. It broke into the US market thanks to a 2004 spot on the Ozzfest tour supporting "Comalies" and a 2006 position opening for Rob Zombie. Scabbia chalks up her band's success to the fact that it is "offering something different from the other bands."
"Our music is not the typical music you listen to every day," she said. We always could care less about cliches and music. But we always try to be inspired by different things, and we created something that's absolutely different--we have two singers, a male and female, but we don't use the voices as the beauty and the beast. We have aggressive parts, but a lot of melody in the music. I think that made the difference. We're successful, too, probably because of the relationship with the fans, as well. We always like to interact with them, which we always thought was really important."
Other European hard rock bands haven't been so fortunate because of the high cost to bring a tour to the United States, she explained.
"There's an ocean in between, so it's really expensive to come here and to bring a lot of stuff, to have a decent [stage show], and it's a question of budget and a question of time, as well. If you want to tour properly in the US, you need a lot of time. It's not like you come here, play for a week and then it's done. You have to be able to touch every territory, touch different clubs--A clubs, B clubs, festivals, as well. It's basically a question of time, organization and budget."
After the Jagermeister tour wraps up, Lacuna Coil will begin a headlining tour in support of its latest album "Karmacode." The first single, "Our Truth," was featured on the soundtrack for the movie "Underworld: Evolution."
"Karmacode" closes with a cover of Depeche Mode's "Enjoy the Silence."
"It actually happened because we were thinking about covering a song especially for the live shows," Scabbia said. "We just wanted a very famous song that everybody could sing during shows. We tried different songs, but we just found out 'Enjoy the Silence' was absolutely perfect for our style, but it wasn't meant to be a [Lacuna Coil] single; it was just meant to be a famous song that people could sing during the show. But then people liked it so much that we had to release it as a single because people wanted it."
By the end of this year or the beginning of 2008, Lacuna Coil will return to the studio to record the follow-up to 2006's "Karmacode," which the band co-produced with Waldemar Sorychta. The group has begun penning new material, but it doesn't have complete songs.
"But we're collecting new ideas, keeping everything together and practicing a little bit," Scabbia said.

Shadows Fall Confirmed For SOTU 2007 Tour

“It is going to be another summer of insanity for the boys in Shadows Fall, and we couldn't be more stoked. Not only are we looking forward to partying with our friends in Darkest Hour, Every Time I Die, Chimiara and Gwar, but also to check out some killer music at one of the summer’s most diverse festival tours. We are planning on playing a set that will include songs from the early days of Shadows Fall up to our new album THREADS OF LIFE and leaving a wake of devastation behind. Jager Puts The Heavy Back In Their Music Tour
On Tuesday, April 10, I made my first trip to Baltimore's Ram's Head Live to catch the Jagermeister Music Tour, featuring Stone Sour, Shadows Fall, and Lacuna Coil. This lineup is one of the most promising metal lineups since the Fall 2005 tour, when Disturbed headlined with support from Corrosion of Conformity, bloodsimple and A Dozen Furies. With the least heavy bands headlining on both that tour and the present one, it's still a far cry form the days when Slayer headlined. But the tour was clearly designed to once again be a metal tour, but also draw in a comparable crowd to its more mainstream rock line-ups. More...
Chimaira Announce SOTU 2007 Participation
CHIMAIRA frontman Mark Hunter announced from the stage at the band's concert in Chicago Sunday night (April 8) that they will take part in the third annual Sounds of the Underground tour, set to take place this summer. As previously reported, GWAR has been confirmed as the headliner of this year's event, according to a posting on the group's web site. Other acts that are rumored to be playing the festival include SHADOWS FALL, JOB FOR A COWBOY and EVERY TIME I DIE. An official announcement regarding this summer's lineup is expected soon.
The second annual Sounds of the Underground tour featured performances by AS I LAY DYING, IN FLAMES, TRIVIUM, CANNIBAL CORPSE, GWAR, TERROR, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, BEHEMOTH, THE CHARIOT and THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD, among others.
The Sounds of the Underground organizers took a different approach to last summer's festival by keeping the number of bands on the bill down and extending the length of set times. In 2005 most bands got no more than 30 minutes to play.
