Shadows Fall Issue Video Update
SHADOWS FALL singer Brian Fair has issued the following update:
"Back in September we asked all of you to send in photos of a personal hero for inclusion in our video for 'Another Hero Lost'. That video ended up not working out so we are shooting a new one shortly. In the meantime we wanted to thank everyone who sent in the photos and the inspiring letters that came with them. We really wanted to share all of these photos with you so we have teamed up with www.fliptrack.com to create an exclusive SHADOWS FALL 'Another Hero Lost' slideshow. You can check it out here. Once you are done, you can create your own slideshow using our song and background to share with your friends."
Musicians Speak On Disney Metal Ban
Jim Abbott of OrlandoSentinel.com reports: As [Orlando, Florida-area] headbangers might have noticed, metal shows (at least some of them) are getting the cold shoulder at House of Blues lately. The Metal Blade 25th Anniversary Tour (with CANNIBAL CORPSE, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, THE RED CHORD, GOATWHORE and THE ABSENCE) played Club Firestone last week, after being moved from HOB.
MACHINE HEAD's Sept. 17 show was moved from Downtown Disney to Firestone on short notice. SHADOWS FALL was supposed to play HOB this weekend, but that show was booted, too. Instead, the band will play a free concert at Vans Skatepark, starting at noon on Saturday.
House of Blues did offer a prepared statement saying that the company "offers a range of entertainment to match the audience at our venues. It was determined that the mix of entertainment at our two Disney locations should be different from our other venues."
But the bands are talking.
"Hello 1950s," says Robb Flynn of MACHINE HEAD. Opening night of the band's tour in Anaheim was canceled with two days' notice, then moved to a venue in Pomona. That was followed by the same treatment in Orlando.
"We were told that lyrics were deemed inflammatory, and our fans were deemed undesirable," Flynn says, "that they [Disney] are phasing out metal shows, and we weren't going to be playing there. It was the promoter's call to cancel the show under pressure from Disney.
"This was opening night of our tour, and we were pretty bent because the show was being moved 70 miles away, and we had a day to let fans know about the change." Like MACHINE HEAD, SHADOWS FALL has a history of successful HOB shows on Disney properties, so member Brian Fair was surprised that the band apparently is no longer welcome.
"We just don't understand what the actual policy is now," Fair says. "It's just, 'These shows are gone, and that's that.' We had to scramble to do something because we'd sold hundreds of tickets for each show." Some bands, such as MEGADETH and ALICE IN CHAINS, still managed to meet the HOB standards, but the Disney "ban" is becoming common knowledge among promoters who call me.
Shadows Fall Announces Two Tour Changes
Shadows Fall has announced two date changes on the upcoming Operation Annihilation tour, a co-headlining trek with Static X also featuring 3 Inches of Blood and Divine Heresy. The two dates both concern House of Blues venues positioned on property owned by the Walt Disney company.
The October 20 date to take place at House of Blues in Orlando, FL has been cancelled, and the October 31 date has moved from the House of Blues in Anaheim, CA to the Galaxy Theatre in Santa Ana, CA.
Shadows Fall frontman, Brian Fair, recently posted the following message on the band's MySpace page:
"Well my friends, it is sad to say but it looks like Mickey can't handle the metal. We have been informed that the Disney company has decided to cancel all metal shows taking place at the House Of Blues on Disney property in both Anaheim CA. and Orlando FL. I for one am surprised that Disney isn't down with the metal. After all, what is more metal than freezing the decapitated head of your founder and having secret security death squads lurking beneath the underworld of an amusement park? This is a huge disappointment for us as we have always had amazing sold out shows at both clubs. We will be moving the Anaheim show to the Galaxy in Santa Ana, and cancelling the Orlando date completely. In the meantime try and synch up your copies of Reign In Blood with any animated Disney classic. Maybe the combination with re-animate old Walt from his cryogenic state and have him get metal back in these clubs!!!"
Ticketholders to the Orlando, FL show will be eligible for refunds. Plans are in the works for a new show in Orlando at another location. Stay tuned for details. Tickets for the October 31 Anaheim, CA show will now be honored at the new venue in Santa Ana.

Machine Head Drummer Comments On Replacement
As previously reported on September 2, MACHINE HEAD has confirmed that it has recruited Brandon Sigmund from fellow San Francisco Bay Area metal band HOSTILITY to handle the bass parts on the group's upcoming North American tour. Sigmund is the temporary replacement for regular MACHINE HEAD bassist Adam Duce, who was forced to sit out the trek after suffering a broken leg while dirt biking in Redding, CA. Also joining the band onstage to reproduce Adam's backing vocals will be Jared MacEachern of tourmates SANCTITY.
"We're really stoked to have found guys as killer as Brandon and Jared to help us through this situation," MACHINE HEAD drummer Dave McClain said in a statement. "We can't wait to get out there and give our fans in the States the headlining show they've been waiting for, especially with bands like ARCH ENEMY, THROWDOWN and SANCTITY on the bill".
Duce's leg is healing normally and he's currently on track to rejoin the band for the rest of their 2007 tour schedule, starting with their Loudpark 07 date in Japan on October 20.
HOSTILITY's video for the song "None for All" can be viewed below. The clip was filmed late last year at the Phoenix Theater in Petaluma, California with director David Kluger.
"None for All" comes off HOSTILITY's critically acclaimed debut album "Uncompromised" (The Pen/Voltaic Records), which was mixed by producer Colin Richardson (SLIPKNOT, MACHINE HEAD, TRIVIUM, SEPULTURA). Richardson previously stated about the CD, "If you want ultimate heaviness, BUY THIS ALBUM!" More...
Protest The Hero Confirms Album Release Date
PROTEST THE HERO, a radical five-piece band from Whitby, Ontario, has confirmed a November 13, 2007 release date for "Fortress", the group's second full-length album on Vagrant. The 10-song set was produced by Julius "Juice" Butty and recorded at Silo Studios in Hamilton, Ontario.
"This album is nothing to be intellectualized," stated lead singer Rody Walker. "All talk of wonder, pathos and optimism (blindfolded) aside (hink). I feel it's a very natural progression for us. A natural progression into further obscurity. I am of the belief a lot of the people who work for us were hoping for a stab at a more commercially viable album, however we wrote what we wanted without linear boundaries and created something less commercial than ever. Some fans of the band will hate it. And some people who hate the band will love it. All others can rot."
PROTEST THE HERO has not revealed any further details about the new CD other than to indicate that "Fortress" will not revolve around a single concept, like the band's 2006 debut, "Kezia", but is instead more closely akin to "goddess worship in the tradition of Robert Graves," according to lyricist and bassist, Arif Mirabdolbaghi.
The band will begin touring immediately and is set to open five dates with SHADOWS FALL followed by a string of dates with ALL THAT REMAINS. More information will be made available shortly.

The track follows the album's introductory single, "Redemption," which reached #1 at Metal radio earlier this year while also spending 12 weeks in the Active Rock Top 40. What's more, "Redemption" is among the featured tracks in EA Sports' just-released video game blockbuster, Madden NFL 08.
A companion video for "Another Hero Lost" will go into production this week. The clip will meld live performance with personal stories and photos from Shadows Fall fans, telling of their own individual heroes. Necro Leaves Sounds Of The Underground Tour
Self proclaimed "death rap" artist Necro has issued the follwing statement from his official Myspace:
"I decided to leave the tour collectively with my manager and booking agent (both tour organizers) because we felt the tour’s demographic was not receiving hip hop well. I was facing hostile, disrespectful crowds and was returning the same energy back ten-fold by being more aggressive than them.
It was making a lot of people in the tour crew nervous and there was concern someone might get hurt (NOT ME). It was also being suggested that maybe I tone down my live show and not antagonize the already antagonistic crowd. I couldn’t roll with that as it’s not my style. I was holding back enough as it is but there is a line. All the bands on the tour loved us and everyone behind the scenes knew we displayed major heart and never once got phased by the hostility. We finished every show with middle fingers up and a big "Fuck You" to the crowd.
I will make one thing clear for the haters: we NEVER got booed OFF the stage. Not once. Yes a ton of emo kids booed us at every show, but we had a twenty-five minute set every night and we stayed on stage for every minute of it, and we represented. Every show had at least 100 to 200 Necro fans in the pit tearing it up, and our meet and greets were incredible!
It’s just a shame these little kids are so close-minded. The majority of the hate was coming from mop top emo sixteen-year olds who have no clue who the originators of metal are, and didn’t respect my rest in peace chant to metal legends (Dime, Cliff, Chuck, Piggy, SOB).
As far as the tour organizers and I are concerned, you are my people so it’s all love and I’m thankful for the opportunity to prove I can murder it in the worst of situations. This actually did a lot for me and is just one move in many my team will make to blow Necro up"

Machine Head Continues The Black Crusade
Machine Head will be joined by Arch Enemy, Dragonforce, Trivium, and Shadows Fall for the Black Crusade tour throughout Europe this fall. Previously they had only signed on to a handful of Australian dates, but with such an amazing reception at this summer's festivals, decided to stick around.
[Correction: It has been brought to my attention that Machine Head are the headliners of this whole tour and together with Trivium, were instrumental in pulling the whole thing together, hence the title 'The Black Crusade,' drawing from the two bands' current album titles ('The Blackening' and 'The Crusade'). They didn't only sign on for the Aussie dates, as the whole idea of the tour was theirs to start with. Machine Head are headlining the tour, not Arch Enemy as the previous headline may have implied. -deathbringer]
