Night In Gales Frontman Quits

Germany's Night In Gales has published a press release on the band's official Facebook page. It includes a statement from longtime frontman Björn Goosses:

“1996-2012. 16 years Night In Gales, during which I have experienced some of the most intense moments as a musician - positive as well as negative ones. Well, Heavy Metal ain't no picnic. I don't wanna miss these memories whatsoever and I'll always be proud of what we have done as a band!

"After four albums, some great and memorable tours, many festivals and numerous shows across all Europe as well as a crazy trip to Japan, there was more or less silence for quite a while. But ten years after 'Necrodynamic' [2001] we didn't only give a sign of life with our fifth record 'Five Scars,' (reviewed here) we rather returned with a bang! Yet this album is my swansong for Night In Gales. Since the release of 'Five Scars' we earned overwhelming response on the album and played some awesome shows. I will gratefully treasure the memory of my very last two shows with Night In Gales, which took place in Romania last weekend - but still time has come for me to close this chapter. With 'Five Scars' things have come full circle for me.

"I want to thank Jens, Tobbe, Frank and Adriano, our former drummer Christian and interim drummer Hartmut as well as all supporters, partners and friends of Night In Gales for pulling their weight on making this band become part of my DNA.

"1996-2012. 16 years Night In Gales. I'll miss you, but it's time to move on. Cheers!" More...

The Very End Reveals Album Details

The Very End's third album "Turn Off The World" has been scheduled for release on November 27th in North America, and the following press release was issued:

"Thanks to a band who have grown even stronger after two line-up changes, their metal doesn't shine on Turn Off The World, but comes across like a jagged, yet razor-sharp blade. Along with vocalist Björn Gooßes, guitarist René Bogdanski and bassist Marc Beste, the two new additions Alex Bartkowski (guitars, ex-Guerrilla) and Daniel Zeman (drums, Enemy Of The Sun) have been vital in perfecting The Very End's typical mix of hard riffs, ferocious grooves and melodic passages.

"Thrash numbers such as 'Iron Sky' stand side by side with epic wrecking-ball tracks along the lines of 'To Feed On Hope' and melancholy titles like 'Maelstrom Calling.' The band reenlisted the producer/sound engineer team of Waldemar Sorychta and Dennis Koehne, who worked on their 2011 release Mercy & Misery."

The album's track listing is as follows:

1. Splinters
2. Iron Sky
3. Infidel
4. The Black Fix
5. Maelstrom Calling
6. Sixes And Nines
7. The Last Mile
8. Dreadnought
9. Gravity
10. Orphans Of Emptiness
11. To Feed On Hope More...

The Very End Releases End Of Year Recap

The Very End has checked in with the following recap of 2011 and announcement about the band's upcoming activity:

"2011 is almost over – time for a quick recap. And quite a lot of things happened around The Very End.

"First and foremost we released 'Mercy & Misery' in January, and your reactions told us that many of you have gladly let our fallen-between-the-cracks German Metal kick their asses. Thank your for that! Our first official video clip for 'A Hole In The Sun' (shot by Filmefahrer Pictures) was premiered in January as well, and with over 150,000 views up to now we can call it a great success!

"Furthermore we proudly presented our new drummer Daniel Zeman (also in Enemy Of The Sun), who made his live debut in January, too. Yet 2011 was also the year of stand-in musicians for The Very End, who fortunately made us forget about carnal or mental malfunctions of one or another band member. Hence, a big thanx goes out to Alex Bartkowski (Guerrilla), Dennis Baron (Final Depravity), Martin Below (Guerrilla) and Roland Smigerski.

"Apart from those fine guys we´d also like to thank our label Steamhammer/SPV and our roadcrew Sascha, Anja, Birte & Lolli and all the other helping hands for keepin´ the faith!

"Some sticky, sweaty live shows later – we shook the stages with e.g. Forbidden, Morgoth and Sacred Reich, the year is almost over again already and we´re writing this recap. But we definitely ain´t gonna leave you without a short preview of what´s to come in 2012: the songwriting for our third album is going full throttle, some great live shows are booked and we promise that even if the Maya will be proved right and 2012 will hold the very end of it all – we will at least provide you with the perfect soundtrack for it!

"On that note – happy new year, see you in 2012 and bang that head that doesn´t bang!"

Yet the decision was mutual and for the benefit of The Very End. We wish Lars and his family all the best! On the other hand, we are very happy to already welcome a new and likewise great drummer — Daniel Zeman! Daniel has already been taking part in the video shoot for 'A Hole In The Sun' and will make his live debut as a firm The Very End member at our January 2011 release shows!"
