Ion Dissonance have finished their third album, Minus the Herd, which is scheduled for release June 5. The Montreal band recorded the disc with producer Zeuss (Shadows Fall, Agnostic Front). "This is by far some of the best stuff we have ever written," singer Kevin McCaughey said in a statement. "There are some changes in direction with this new release, but I definitely think the die-hard Ion followers will still be into the new stuff. I guess the only word to describe this new album would have to be 'brutal.' Just plain heaviness."
Montreal-based quintet ION DISSONANCE are getting ready to record their 3rd album and follow-up to the ABACUS Release "Solace" that left reviewers raving in 2005. ION DISSONANCE's new album is going to be entitled "Minus The Herd" and will be recorded with Zeuss. Singer Kevin McCaughey says of the album: "This is by far some of the best stuff we have ever written. There are some changes in direction with this new release, but I definitely think the die hard Ion followers will still be into the new stuff. I guess the only word to describe this new album would have to be brutal. Just straight and plain heaviness."
ION DISSONANCE will be hitting the road in the United States with Arsis and Beneath The Massacre with a stop at the California Metal Fest. They will also be touring Europe with Dead To Fall and Through The Eyes Of The Dead in May. "As for the upcoming tour dates I have to say that I, myself and the rest of the band are really looking forward to heading out with our good friends in Beneath the Massacre for their first strand of US shows. I have never been out to the west coast and I am really excited about it. We have also just confirmed our first ever European tour with our good friends in Dead to Fall and Through The Eyes Of The Dead. We are all really excited about this, and I can't wait to hit the road with these new songs once the recording process is finished."

On the eve of the release of the band's full-length debut, 'Mechanics of Dysfunction,' Canada's BENEATH THE MASSACRE has been confirmed for the band's first appearances in the United States later this spring alongside Arsis and Ion Dissonance. The upcoming jaunt also includes an appearance at the second annual California Metalfest with labelmates LIGHT THIS CITY and THE FUNERAL PYRE.
The 10 new tracks on 'Mechanics of Dysfunction' were recorded and produced by Yannick St-Ammand (Despised Icon, Neuraxis), mixed by Pierre Rémillard (Cryptopsy, Krisiun) and mastered by Alan Douches (Dillinger Escape Plan, Shadows Fall) and is the band's first new offering since the well-received five track debut EP, 'Evidence of Inequity' released in 2005.

South Carolina's THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD have been confirmed for a European tour alongside Dead To Fall and Ion Dissonance throughout May later this year. Currently demoing material and rehearsing to enter the studio to record the band's new album, 'Malice,' the tour marks THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD's first time touring Europe since forming in 2003.
Having already supported the band's 2005 Prosthetic Records debut, 'Bloodlust,' most recently with appearances at Sounds of the Underground and on a fall headlining tour in 2006, THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD will enter Mana Studios with producer Erik Rutan (Hate Eternal, ex-Morbid Angel) February 16 to lay down tracks for 'Malice,' currently slated for a tentative summer 2007 release. Alan Douches (Unearth, Shadows Fall) will handle mastering and Paul Romano (Mastodon, The Red Chord) will return for artwork duties.
"The new material is coming along nicely," guitarist Justin Longshore said previously. "The songs are a lot more mature and the music is much faster, aggressive, and way more pissed off. I think fans are going to really love it. We are really pumped to work with Erik Rutan on 'Malice.' We've never worked with a producer and I don't think we could have chosen anyone better; we really admire the work he's done in Morbid Angel and Hate Eternal and also the engineering efforts he's produced for Cannibal Corpse, Hate Eternal, and Premonitions of War, among others. After we hit the studio, we plan to dominate the world once again and tour throughout the year. We will be playing a lot of new places including Europe. 2007 is going to be an exciting year for TTEOTD."

Things are going really well so far with him on vocals, Kevin played a few shows with us already and his vocals fit perfectly with our music and what we were looking for. We would like to thank everyone who tried out for us and would like to wish them good luck in their projects. Otherwise, we are currently writing our 3rd album right now and it's going really well so far, we have a lot of new stuff already and all we can say is that we feel it's some of the best stuff we have ever written. NEGATIVA, the new Quebec, Canada-based metal band featuring former GORGUTS members Steeve Hurdle (guitar, vocals) and Luc Lemay (guitar, vocals), along with Etienne Gallo (drums, ex-AUGURY) and Miguel Valade (bass, ex-ION DISSONANCE), has issued the following update:
"The last few weeks have been very thrilling for us as we have finally arranged to enter studio in mid-September to record three songs. We will again be working with our old friend Pierre Remillard but this time it will be at his famous Wild Studio. Pierre has produced GORGUTS' very first demo, 'And Then Comes Lividity', back in 1989, plus the albums 'Obscura' in 1998 and 'From Wisdom To Hate' in 2001. He will be assisted by none other than Jean-Yves Theriault, a.k.a. Blacky and former VOÏVOD. We will be more than honored to work with him in the studio. At the end of September, expect a MySpace page for you to, at last, listen to our music." Songtitles set to appear on the mini-CD are "Chaos in Motion", "Taedium Vitae" and "Rebellion".
ION DISSONANCE vocalist Gabriel McCaughry has announced his departure from the group with the following statement:
"It's over... and it's probably the hardest decision I had to take in my entire life. There are so many reasons... to be totally honest with you, I don't even know where to begin with this. Basically the Passion was slowly slipping away, but of course its not that simple. Over the years, several concerns (problems) began to spawn in my mind and concerned only me I guess, my personal views on how I was picturing myself doing in the band. And therefore my views on how I perceived Extreme music in general which differed from what ION DISSONANCE would become. And I cannot deny the fact that it also had to do with some intra-social issues within the band itself. More...

Dead To Fall are heading to Trax East to begin recording the follow up to their critically acclaimed 2004 album "Villainy and Virtue" with producer Eric Rachel. Rachel rejoins the band for round two – their previous collaboration was described in Revolver as, "Full of slab-like guitars and raging vocal growls, this brutish metalcore album will reach out of your speakers, beat you down, and steal your wallet." The great Paul Romano (Mastodon, Godflesh) returns to artwork for the cover – his images for "Villainy and Virtue" were some of the most striking to appear that year, and the band is eager to work with him again. The tentative title for the album is "Death and Rebirth" and singer Jon Hunt has said that it has a lot more classic metal elements than any previous Dead To Fall recordings. Expect the album in April 2006, and don’t miss Dead To Fall on tour in January 2006 with Ion Dissonance, where new songs from the album will be performed. Tour dates will be confirming shortly.
