Montreal’s technical death metal band BENEATH THE MASSACRE has scheduled studio time for the follow up record to 2007’s "Mechanics of Dysfunction." The band will enter the studio April 25 with Yannick St-Amant (Despised Icon, Neuraxis, Martyr), who also produced BENEATH THE MASSACRE’s prior full-length and the "Evidence of Inequity" EP. Afterwards, Jason Suecof (The Black Dahlia Murder, God Forbid, Chimaira) will mix the record, which is currently slated for a fall 2008 release through Prosthetic Records.
"So we just came back from our headline tour in the US. We had a blast.” BENEATH THE MASSACRE vocalist Elliot Desgagnes says. “A lot of people showed up and all the bands on the package were super cool dudes. We're now working hard on the new material that will be recorded starting in April at Yannick's studio. We can't wait to enter the studio. We'll probably be posting video and blogs to let all you guys know what's going on in studio. Stay tuned."
Most recently wrapping up the first BENEATH THE MASSACRE headlining tour, alongside See You Next Tuesday, Born of Osiris, and The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza, the band has been busy touring non-stop since the February 2007 release of "Mechanics of Dysfunction," including the filming of a video for the track “Society’s Disposable Son.”. In addition, the band has been confirmed as a rotating direct support band on a brief Canadian run of dates alongside headliners Despised Icon and fellow Canadians Ion Dissonance and The Plasmarifle.

On July 8th 2007 I went to see the Summer Slaughter Festival at BBkings in New York City. Of the venues in my area that book metal bands, BBkings has been one of my favorites for its amazing sound and size. It is never too loud that I feel like I’m going deaf, but still loud enough that I feel the music and rock out. The venue definitely has great tech guys running the soundboards and lights. With this in mind, I knew that I would get proper enjoyment of the bands and not focus on how much I can't hear a certain instrument or the vocals. I entered without knowing what to expect because I am not a fan of most brutal death metal, but there were a few bands I recognized and wanted to see how they were live, namely, Necrophagist, Beneath the Massacre, and Cephalic Carnage. I really wish I could have seen Arsis, but they had troubles with their van on tour and couldn't make it out. More...
The new video from South Carolina's THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD will make its television debut on MTV2's Headbangers Ball this Saturday. Check your local listings for time and channel. In the meantime, the video is available online here or below.
The band has also just uploaded footage from the recording sessions of the forthcoming album, Malice, which will see an August 21 release through Prosthetic Records. Footage is available on YouTube in three clips.
Recorded with Erik Rutan (Hate Eternal, ex-Morbid Angel) and featuring artwork from Paul Romano (Mastodon, The Red Chord, The Acacia Strain), Malice is THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD's follow-up to 2005's Bloodlust, which took the band out on the road - including an appearance on Sounds of the Underground 2006. Meanwhile, the band is currently gearing up for a headlining run alongside As Blood Runs Black, labelmates Beneath The Massacre and Ion Dissonance.
Pre-orders for Malice will begin shipping Friday and are available here.

NEGATIVA, the Quebec-based band featuring former GORGUTS members Steeve Hurdle (guitar, vocals) and Luc Lemay (guitar, vocals), along with Etienne Gallo (drums, AUGURY) and Miguel Valade (bass, ex-ION DISSONANCE), has issued the following update:
"We're really disappointed to announce that we have to cancel the shows scheduled from August 1-3 in Toronto, Hamilton and London. The guitarist/vocalist Big Steeve Hurdle had a back injury on Sunday, and he should rest for at least one week. We were looking forward to do these shows because they were the very first ones for the band. Unfortunately, we'll have to wait a little longer before to hit the stage for the first time. As of today, we have no fixed plans about rescheduling the three dates but we'll try to make it up for our Ontario fans before the end of the year if we can. Thanks for your understanding." More...

Abacus Recordings has officially ceased to exist. Portions of the one-time Century Media Records imprint will now be folded back into Century Media. Launched in 2002, the label was originally headed by Century Media co-owner Robert Kampf. Roughly two years ago Abacus and Century Media split, with Kampf choosing to relinquish his portion of ownership. Details regarding the latest arrangement between the two entities are scant, but it appears that certain Abacus bands will now be brought over to the Century Media roster. In recent years Abacus has released material by Sick Of It All, Ion Dissonance, and Sworn Enemy, among many others.
South Carolina's THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD have confirmed another American headlining tour for August and September, this time featuring support from As Blood Runs Black, Prosthetic Records labelmates BENEATH THE MASSACRE , and Ion Dissonance. Hitting many places the band hasn't played for a time, this headlining tour is the second domestic outing in anticipation of the band's forthcoming record, ' Malice ,' having already spent June on the road with The Red Chord as well as the band making its first trip to Europe earlier this spring.
Recorded with Erik Rutan (Goatwhore, Cannibal Corpse, Vital Remains), ' Malice ' marks the debut of vocalist Nate Johnson (ex-Premonitions of War, ex-Deadwater Drowning) and is the follow-up to 2005's Prosthetic Records debut, ' Bloodlust .' Scheduled for an August 21 release, the band has made the track "Failure In The Flesh" available on the THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD MySpace page, while exclusive pre-order packages are available at Prosthetic Records.com.
THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD recently finished shooting a video for the track "Failure In The Flesh" in New York with director David Brodsky (Goatwhore, Kylesa, The Acacia Strain, Gwar), and the clip will be available shortly online and at video outlets.

Guitarist & vocalist James Malone regretfully explains why ARSIS had to drop off the Revolver Magazine-sponsored Summer Slaughter Tour while supporting their latest release, United In Regret:
"Due to circumstances beyond our control, we've been forced to drop off the Summer Slaughter Tour. I do apologize to ALL the fans that missed seeing us. To make a long story short, everything was going great for us until we reached Sacramento, California. After that show, our van began to give us trouble - which surprised us since the van had just been in for repairs twice before the tour even started and we were sure the problem had been fixed. So we took the van in to the nearest dealership, were told the problem could be resolved in 3 days, and decided to wait in Sacramento until the van was fixed. It's now over 2 WEEKS LATER and the van STILL hasn't been repaired. Unfortunately, it's already too late for us to rent a vehicle. We've gone broke paying for hotels. Van rental fees + the cost of gas would have cost us a fortune to catch up to the tour. Please understand that we made the best decision we could with the information we were given. Unfortunately, it turns out we made the wrong decision."
Offers to assist with lodging, gas card gift donation pledges, and general well-wishes for the band can be left at www.myspace.com/ARSIS

Ion Dissonance have finished their third album, Minus the Herd, which is scheduled for release June 5. The Montreal band recorded the disc with producer Zeuss (Shadows Fall, Agnostic Front). "This is by far some of the best stuff we have ever written," singer Kevin McCaughey said in a statement. "There are some changes in direction with this new release, but I definitely think the die-hard Ion followers will still be into the new stuff. I guess the only word to describe this new album would have to be 'brutal.' Just plain heaviness."
